Come on rediff.. The articles are too artificial.. no touch of reality.. Pune - Where is the infrastrcture.. for the last two year there is no single good road... no proper public tansport available here.
flyover - 2 years, no end at sight.. and by the way traffic doubled in the mean time..
RE:Pune ?.. Open your eyes.

Hi Ravi
I totally agree with your comments about Pune not having proper infrastructure. But the state govt. and even the PMC is trying its best to improve the conditions. Lot of infrastructure projects have been taken up in last 6 months and you will definitely find improved conditions within next year.
With Mumbai - Pune express highway, IT and ITES companies and big automobile investments such as Volkswagen, General Motors, Bharat Forge and the planned international airport Pune is poised to develop like anything. People have already started quoting Pumbai (Pune - Mumbai)and its no longer that Pune will be known as Mumbai's largest and farthest suburb.
Hi, these people writing columns in Rediff are wantenly missing out chennai on all their reports and comments. Will these people realise that it is the hottest detination for IT and ITES and Automobile inustries in the country. Will the editor of rediff note this.
RE:Chennai always missed out
by Ravi on Jan 03, 2007 08:32 PM
Hi Hari,
Exactly u r correct..These people jealous on Chennai growth. But Chennai is always a gateway to southern India. And also gateway to southeast to the world.
Chennai and Calcutta is always a silent revolution maker like Atlanta and Orlando in the USA.
Chennai is much better than all other metros in many aspects. Even weather is not bad as Delhi and Gurgaon where heat stroke occurs. And not as dry hot in Hyderabad which creates harmful to human body.
You have missed out the one of the 10 hottest cities of the world 'Ghaziabad', actually property prices have boomefd their in last two years, the escalation have been almost 100 - 150% in trans Hindon areas specially areas closure to Delhi border. The Development is also happening at faster pace and law and order is no more that big an issue as whole of UP is facing this trouble infact Noida is the worst now with latest kidnappings and killings.

Why Kolkata is always considered as step child? Lot of FDI is coming and investing in Kolkata then also Kolkata is not considered as a hot destination why?
RE:Hot property detination in 2007

This is because of the dissimal political and Labor union environment in Kolkata. The Kolkatans and Bengalis of WB in general should realize that they have missed all the trains of the 20th and 21st centuries. The fruits that other major cities on Independent India are enjoying now were sowed 20 years back not two years as in the case of Kolkata. I hope the Bengalies in Kolkata realizes this and corrects themselves and punishes the political parities and the trade unions when they try to disrupt work and transports by strikes. Foriegn companies are coming to Kol not for the Political environment or of any change in it, but for very cheap labour and low cost of living. But if the unions do not understand the value of productive work the investments will go down again. This is why no outsiders are confident in settling in Kol yet. They think this is a temporary spike in investment. It will take time to get the investors confidence back for realestate. Just look at the basic amenities there, the pollution, traffic jams, power shortage, strikes, mosquitoes, open drain, schools, and collages are not providing the latest techs to students,to name few. Being an out of state Bengali, I feel sad to bring out the hard truth to a Kol bengali. Joy
Yes,its true that with the influx of many multinationals, American style salary is going to stay here. But it is happening only in few sectors like IT/ITES and consultancy services. This will broaden already existing income inequalities in India.Today the trend is to own a house in city and rent it out and go and stay in the calm suburbs.

Good that Chennai didnt make the list, I hope you ignorant northies and goltees dont come over to chennai anymore. We love chennai the way it is and if you northies don't like the weather, the people etc, then just get the hell out of our city. Go live in Gurgaon, Kanpur or any other rape/serial killing cities in the North or the faeces smelling Mumbai.

chennai is the cause for global worming in India, they don't care about environmental pollution, they don't plant tree's,they don't have good infrastucture!!!....
Remember one thing any city with out good afforestration is a shut city.chennai comes first in that row,may be tamil people don't want other's to live in their state.
I agree that Chennai should have been included but would not agree with your comment that it is gateway to South India.. If Chennai is gateway to South then what abt AP ?
RE:What about chennai?
by BostonPunekar on Jan 02, 2007 10:54 PM
Chennai needs to do lot in improving its image as a National and Cosmopolitian city.Pune, Hyderabad Bangalore have infact proven themselves to be cosmopolitan cities which is a major requirement for any city to be called as a investment destination for properties. Hostile attitude to the rest of Indians and lingustic reservations does affect investor confidence from outside Chennai public at large to invest in something which is very volatile to price changes that is Real estate both commercial and residential. If I am someone from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolcatta, Bangalore, Hyderabad..I must have a felling of being welcomed so as to actually buy propertey in Chennai. Which is not there right now !

I am not even sure which part of world you come from. people from chennai or not hostile to anyone, it is just that you have a attitude problem and it you must look outside your bias. As far as investment is concerned chennai is rocking and the real-estate prices are soaring as well accordingly.
