Atleast now Customs/Immigration fellows Change their attitude
by C Ramesh on Dec 27, 2007 08:47 AM

Hope atleast Hyderabad Customs/Immigration people will change their attitude, They are behaving really very bad like beggers in Hyderabad. It's like atleast give me a choclate packat if they didn't get any thing to rob from us. In that case i appreciate Chennai airport Officials, they don't even disturb you if you carry any personal electronic items.
After working hard with that hard earned money if we take any gifts to our loved once after a long time when we visit india, they try to rob them. This British Raj/Nawabee attitude should change.

Pooh!

Improve the quality of Airport Service Infrastructure with priority first & stop boasting of all "Nawabi", "Kababi", "Shababi" things (just to attract people's attention.)
There is a solid racket in Indian Airport Immigration (all Airports included) wherein the Immigration Personnel craftily pampers with a potential "Bakra's" passport & tags it on his online computer record. The next time this particular "Bakra" is into Immigration, the Immigration Officer on duty there (can be any Airport) sees the tag on his computer. Then begins a series of harrassments for the poor Bakra &his life is saved only after a Sizeable Dent in his Pocket (can be any Amount.)
Rediff should be doing such things. But no; since it has grown - up on the leftovers of British Raj/ Nawabs, these will be heir ideals. Happens......

Districts Versus Cantons
by m on Dec 22, 2007 04:39 PM

The ideal solution is to decentralize 602 districts in India into 'cantons' as in Switzerland.

Cantons will prevent 'casteism' and socio-economic 'collusion'.
And Cantons will promote cultural 'cohesion' in India.

Hyderabad Airport

Having seen various airports (In India),I fully agree that even though small, the current Airpor at Begumpet is very customer friendly, clean, good environment and close to city and you get a feeling that you are travelling 'by air'. If one happens to visit mumbai airport, the situation is worse than CSTM. People guzzling out from all entrances, shabbily dressed/tired personnel who don't even flash a smile, duty personnel at check in counters carrying a walkie talkie and asking the seated passengers about their flight details running here and there, crowds at check in counters. It is an horrible experience. Bangalore Aiport is far from city n the travelling time it takes you to reach the airport, you reach the destination by flight. The Goa airport is like coming out of a commercial building with no charm.

Shamshabad airport is really a bit far away and so is devanahalli at Bangalore. in both places, real development is yet to take place. I mean good wide roads with lighting.

by chirdeep dhawan on Dec 22, 2007 11:38 AM  | Hide replies

I have had the previlage of seeing the new Hyderabad International Airport currently being built, its going to be a dream experience and a plesent surprise for most of us Indians, especially the ones who havent been abroad. For others, they definately will be proud that such facilities and infrastructure is now available in India.I congratulate GMR, L&T, and its partner contractors like Jindal Architecture, Alupro, Voltas, etc to have create a marvel.

It is nice to hear that.

In the next one or two decades, every one will call India as "country of skyscrapers". I see that happpening. Our infrastructure companies have the talent and financial power to achieve this.

I just hope this airport keeps signboards & announcements in languages other than English as well. Unlike Mumbai airport where the idiots assume that everybody knows and understands English. Atleast they can use one regional language like Hindi or in Hyderabad they can use Telugu or all three to enable passangers from anywhere in India can atleast understand

why the Airport is named after Rajiv Gandhi
by Pashupati on Dec 22, 2007 11:32 AM  | Hide replies

The Airport should be named after Narasimha Rao or NTR. They are the sons of the soil. I hope the next government takes this issue under consideration and rename the airport. Congress is in a frenzy to name all India after Rajiv, Indira and Nehru. Even housing schemes for the poor.

Agreed. It is sickening to note that everything is named after Gandhi family. We have 500 years of tradition, why not a name from the past? Airport need not be named after any person at all.

No, Kochi is the first in South India
by Santhosh on Dec 22, 2007 11:23 AM  | Hide replies

You are wrong, Kochi is first airport in South India that can handle A380. In India, Bombay, Delhi and Kochi can handle A380.

I do not know why all the time Rediff is passing wrong information to all.

Rediff Admin, please check the news before publishing.

Don't take it seriously my friend. Rediff is like an eveninger, Frivolous & full to the brim with Gossip or in other words just Time - Pass. An Eveninger has to be consumed like Tea/ Breakfast, Ruminated & finally used to Clean... If you take Rediff matters to heart, you will definitely encounter a heart - attack.
