Hi Dilip,
I completely agree with you. The people are thinking only on one side of the show, the direct outlook... but how it benefits them indirectly, they are not bothered.. These people are enjoying the convenience of today just because the economy is good.. and economy is good because there is money being circulated in the market..thus the standard of living goes high... This guy who is speaking about service, how can he get money for that... or has he ever thought how come he got access to this website to comment on it... all because of money... The word INVEST means to earn something extra than what you spend.... The five star hotels invest in billions... and they look for returns in trillions... If the market was not open to the world...monopoly would exist and we end up paying money that could be more than 100 times we may pay for a better quality product if the market opens up. Like for example take the case of cars, earlier we used to have Ambassador or Fiat here..and what is the current scenario...
So don't be a frog in the well.

Should everything be business???
by Krishnan on Sep 10, 2006 12:58 PM  | Hide replies

If everything is viewed with a "eye on the money", rather that as a 'service to society' it's going to be difficult for the majority of the mankind. I would feel guilty if i have to spend Rs.300 on a meal or if i have to have a meal in a five star hotel even though I could afford it. Food is something so basic to our psyche that trying to have huge margins and paying exorbitant amounts for a meal esp in a country like India is just giving in to the diabolical. Please view catering food as a service to mankind rather than as a way to make big money for you!!!

You are right! But look at this way. There are people in upper middle class and rich who have have enough disposable income. Let them spend 300 bucks on a fabulous meal which costs 150. They can afford to do so. Let the businesssman earn who is certainly going to reinvest it again thus creating wealth in the society and employment for many. This is how economy works!

It is one way of taking money from the rich & give it back to the society in form of employment.

Is this not a service to the mankind?... see the last example in the above mentioned article (Darden restaurant, Inc.)... this chain has given employement to 150000 people... if there is no money involved, what would happen to these 150000 people and millions more like these... is some looser like you going to provide them with jobs? and this is just one aspect of restaurant industry... you short sighted people cannot actually look at the wider perspective... huh !!

Couldn't you just appreciate the lovely article that they have put here?

How could you even talk about mankind !!

Quality is the Key!!!
by Prakash Haran on Sep 10, 2006 09:26 AM

Its a fact that restaurant business is a huge money
spinner and a 50% ROI is possible. But the key to a sucessful restaurant business is maintaing good quality and creating a brand.
