Police action
by Vinod on Jun 05, 2006 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

The police had a job to do and they did it.

The protestors should learn to follow the rules, like protesting without causing inconvenience to others.

And who gave these doctors the right to endanger the health of those patients whom they have refused to treat?

democracy! gives the right to every citizen to protest for his demands.
As, long they are within the defined social and moral limits, they should not be opressed.

In this case the students were within the limits, and yet they were opressed by the brutal force of an entity elected by the very people whom it is mistreating.

How do you justify that Mr Vinod ?

Bravo! Raising questions because may be you belong to one of those pro-quota people. My dear friend, have you even thought why someone is protesting by keeping a fast. Do you even know that inspite of being the best in India some of the doctors had to wait 2-3 years to enter into medical collage because of your reservations. That agony has given them the right to protest. Did you ever asked a question who gave politicians the right to walk our, to do pre term elections (each walk out cause 1 crore Rs.,each election causes millions). If because of your selfish motives, you think police did the right thing, there are millions of us who think doctors are correct. We will fight for the second independence of India-independence from reservations.

You have spoken like a true politician. India needs more people like you in parliament. Let's tie all those doctors and burn them alive. They have to suffer for the actions of their anscestors. We do not need any doctors other than those who were awarded their degrees through reservation. All the general category doctors need to know that they are the slaves of the MOSS of Indian society (Muslims/OBC/SC/ST). If they cannot live with that, they are free to go to the US/UK or wherever they think society is more free and just and live a better life.

Frankly, the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) should also have a quota for the MOSS. Frankly, if the Police have Quota, why not the Forward Caste Armed Forces which are currenly putting their lives at risk for the MOSS?

Let me inform you my friend. Police are puppets of the govts especially if both the central and state govt are of same party then it is even more easier for the political party which is ruling to control things. A minister says lathi charge there will be lathi charge. such is the condition of the politics today.

by the way can you suggest "one way" for some people like doctors, firemen, police,or any essential need people to protest????????

Mr.Vinod,

for u r kind info. no medicos or protesters pelted a stone on anybody. All this mess is created by useless politicians like Arjun singh who wants to keep his seat by bringing in Reservation. The Police were very harsh in treating medicos. I hasn't seen such a treatment to a professional who saves life. I am comdemning teh act of police and this congress govt.

by Rahul Joshi on Jun 05, 2006 11:50 AM

Congress party has gone crazy! Sonia Gandhi (being the only visible logical thinker) has to do something about this whole mess Arjun Singh and Co. is creating.

All of our countrys top economist and strategists are against reservations. All of our countrys top heads of the most respected institutes and industries are against reservations. Hell! even the majority of Indian public is against it!!

BUT Congress party is adamant on its stand, how stupid is that? Its IRON HAND nothing short of dictator ship!!

Dude, rediff is not biased!Reservations are like a big suck on a sour leamon. Can reservations in higher education compensate for a pathetic primary education ? Do you not realise that there's only a mearger of population who is benefitted . If someone needs reservation,it's the backwards irrespective of the cast.
dude, rediff ain't biased, its you who is trying to defy logic!

Upper Caste Dominated MEDIA Opinion is always Biased - Rediff is no exception
by Mahesh on Jun 05, 2006 11:39 AM  | Hide replies

I did not believe this article in the hindu today that said "Upper castes dominate national media, says survey in Delhi"

"No Dalit or Adivasi among top 300 journalists"

Hindu upper caste men who form eight per cent of the country's population hold 71 per cent of top jobs
Muslims account for only three per cent among key decision-makers

Your ARTICLE proves beyond an IOTA of doubt., that rediff is merely one of those UPPER CASTE Media houses., acutely biased ...

I dont think there need be a adivasi doctor to treat a adivasi, nor a adivasi editor to publish adivasi's woes. I guess there is nothing wrong in a "doctor" doing his/her karam or a "editor" doing his/her karam. if only we stop all these "adivasi doctor" "adivasi editor" "adivasi whoever" and start thinking all as "doctor" "editor" "whoever" we will start something called """"Development"""".

Am not biased. Am a SC myself. I dont go by quota and I strictly go by merit. This is what basic education has done to me. Make a strong foundation for studies for people irrespective of their caste, race, creed sex... we will automatically improve. Make education available to economically challenged we will automatically improve.

Losing the hope

After reading about decisions of government on reservations, I am losing hope that India will be able to rise up soon now. Why the government wants to throw out the general category students. What are they up to?

The solution is that all 100% of seats and jobs should be reserved for next 25 years, the if any upper caste is surviving,he shold be given some sort of reservation.

reservation in private sector ruins the country
by Ramamurthy Vittal on Jun 05, 2006 10:58 AM

The very fact that 58 years after the independence we do not have even 1% of reservation even for SCs in private sector, indicate the danger of reservation in private sector.Govt. can not force industrialists to damage their property by doing wrong things. But reservation can be made for jobs where manual skill is enough and private sector can do to that extent. Certainly for the sake of politiciens' votes they will not ruin their business. If the Govt. forces them beyond a limit, they will stop their business and that leads to industrial production , thereby decrease national groth rate and damage the country, I am very confident that all the Govts will behave responsibly when they come to power, though they may talk and do small damages to the country for the sake of votes

Its Clear!
by sam on Jun 05, 2006 10:47 AM

So far its clear that government is sure that they are incapable to provide proper education to all indians...and thats why they don't want to finish this quota system..now they say anything and give anyreason its no use...and to my amazement even supreme court do not help students to demolish this caste system..
Its same thing like when a baby is born we don't give him polio drops, but when he gets the polio than we are going to cure him!!
this is the same thing for quota..students will not get proper education on primary level..and when they reach up to higher education than we will cure them by quota!!
am i wrong!!! pls let me know!!
