A singer earns Rs 10,00o and above for a song. A music director earns a few lakhs. The producer ofcourse earns a huge amount. What about the commoner ? Did any one think about them.
In the US a normal employee is paid 25 to 30 $ per hour of work. If he wants to buy a cassette or a video all he got to spend is a very few dollars. But it is not the same in India. The rich keep growing and the poor / middle class are stagnating. On top of that. Music softwares..I clicked a link from an antipiracy site to enter this forum. In India..music software dealers and other hardware dealers charge a bomb. A Yamaha speaker called MSP 5. The original price of that is 12,000 Rupees. These dealers import these speakers in bulk and sell a piece for 28,000 Rupees. They say the rest is Tax.. I myself being an engineer from the audio Industry donot want to reveal the so called dealers names..Ofcourse I hear that a few hardware dealers have contacts with the grey markets too. And one of such software dealer comes to my office and gives me a copy of an assosiations news letter..stop piracy..!!! This is just a promo for these peoples growth..If you check the dealers pc i bet his windows version is fake
I am agreed with the views of all the music stars but we must give some appreciations to the Music companies. As far as the new comers (Budding Singers) are concerned, the Music companies and the Music channels are giving lot of scopes to establish them but sometimes the budding singers are not getting properly exposed to the music industry due to the less advertisement and promotional activities by the Music company which neglects the willingness of the budding singers to work better. I am a new singer and get publicized by one of the renowned Music company in India but did not get that exposer due to the poor marketing of my album. I would be much glad if any of above music maestro pay attention to me and help me to establish my carrer which will bight the flame of my music career. Thanking you.....
Awesome. I fully aggree with this article. I guess u dont know half of what goes on behind the scenes. This article has atlast boldly exposed the pathetic Indian music industry. Infact, I think film music is the pits..its sad the Pakis have to show us what non film music is all about..with superiour instrumentation and vocals and melodies. Shameful. Gokul needs to open his eyes..
Hey.. very nice article. Even I believe that our films have destroyed the identity of our musicians. They need to be marketed in a better way. They work hard and deserve more than what they're getting.
