It is now upto the people of India, including its businessmen to make their choice.do they want fascism or would they stand for Democracy? If persons like Aroon go gagag over the oratarial skills of Modi, they'll have to repent later. This report only reveals that we ahve not learnt our lesson . Sad, frightening.

Narendra Modi is the happening thing!
by Charvak on Jan 19, 2003 07:10 AM

Funny, these jokers under one guise or the other have become an impeditment to development of India. First it was Narmada Bachao Andolan and now Narendra Modi, in both instances, the overwhelming Gujaratis sided with the government and Narendra Modi respectively.

If thousand businessmen sat thru the meeting, because Narendra Modi had something to offer : business opportunities. Translated, it means jobs and economic prosperity.

The opponents of development sustain themselves on poverty, without which their cause is resounding failure. The man on the street yearns for prosperity and pursuit of happiness. The 50 year disconnect between the secularist tribes and the common man has come to a heady confrontation. The modern man has rejected these dubious proponents of poverty : NBA, ASHA, Insaaniyaat, etc

Modi is their nemesis. He is the man, the common man looks upto. Modi is working hard to deliver his promise on providing economic prosperity and security.

Shame on those who want to rain on this path of prosperity the common man and the common Gujarati wants to tread.

Godspeed to Modi and his good work.

modi woos biz

the way you have written the story is biased. whereas the person who raised a valid accusation of modi having blood on his hands was portrayed as a spoilsport, modi was portrayed as calm and mahatma like, begging not to throw him. this is deplorable.

Modi woos businessmen...
by Rahul Singh on Jan 19, 2003 06:42 AM

I am amazed at people ( businessmen ) of my country when they listen to poeple like Modi with "rapt attention", ( and vote for him...well people also vote for Laloo !!! ).

We should be ashamed of ourselves with what happened in Gujrat. Modi hands are indeed in blood and instead of being taken to task is called a good orator and businessman. He exemplifies the fact that politicians can get away with anything.

God Bless India.

Modi woos businessmen

Your article glorifies a man (Modi) who is responsible for one of the most reprehensible episodes in recent Indian history. The "unpleasant event" is not Jairus Danajee's challenge to Modi and the cynical corporate interests who are brushing state-sponsored murder under the "red carpet". The unpleasant event is the function itself. It reminds one of IBM, IG-Farben and Daimler Benz doing business with Hitler. Your reporter seems to feel that it is Mr. Danajee who was at fault for spoiling the party. Or is this Rediff's editorial position?

Modi The CEO 'Gujarat Unlimited'
by Lallubhai Mistry on Jan 19, 2003 05:05 AM

Gujratis are renowned for their business and commercial management skils. With the right vision and support infrastrucure Gujarat will be Japanese model for making India the most prosperous in the region. With comparative equal water supply facililies Gujarat will take over Punjab in food production. Shree Modi has the vision, he will create the support infrastructure, all that is require for everyone to join forces together to make it happen. Let everyone join in creating economy for themselves.

As for privatisation of Educational Institutions will not help the poor section of the society. Furthermore int he hand of American multination educational corpaorations are going to work for whose prosperity? Remember the story of Union Carbide in India. People are still suffering today.

AS for that individual who tried to sabotage the conference, let him answer one question honestly on humaniterian ground that is, why and who burnt those 58 people alive? Remove that incident and there is no aftermath of Godhra. Is he of the view that no other people can have any judgement about Islamist inhumanity towards others. Let him be reminded that he is free to worship religion of his choice freely only because of 80% Hindu majority. Let him be reminded how uneaually and how inhumanly people of other faiths are treated in all Middle Eastern countries, Pakistan, Banladesh and any other country with majority the population is other than Hindus.

Modi's Vision
by Shashi on Jan 19, 2003 01:43 AM

You wrote at the end of article that Not many businessmen convinced with Modi's speech.

Why you English Media - Both print and Electronic blame BJP for anything and everything. Why don't some of you go to J&K, Pakistan, Bangadesh to see the plight of affected people there? Stop Pseudo secularism and wake up. India is over secular and majority is discriminated. US,Canada or others do not declare holidays for Diwali. Why we do the same?

A day will come that all pseudo seculars will either get forcefully converted or beg to BJP to stop that happening.

Stupid article
by sumit on Jan 19, 2003 01:37 AM

"But there was one man among the audience who shocked everyone with his audacity as he hurled expletives at the chief minister."

Should one require audacity for this. That man has blood on his hands. Winning an election where votes are cast by uneducated louts doesnt wash away murder.

The press are a bunch of poodles who know the man who butters their bread. This lady is nothing but a hack posing as a journalist.
