Leaders are scarce and leaders with transparent 'mission and vision', scarcer. Good grooming and attention from childhood create good everything, a good teacher, a good engineer, a good doctor; and a good civil-servant with ability of direct/immediate decision-making and evaluation that effect many people for their peaceful living. May they become more and more able IAS and IPS!

Why is the media going to town over a regular posting and by doing so actually undermining the person. It is a job and nobody is special. Many factors go into deciding postings including how well one is connected. Does the media bother to enquire about women who clean sewers? Keeping things in perspective and not hyping things up is wise. Respecting either gender as human beings first with compassion and kindness, rather than placing on a pedestal to be worshipped is no good.

while it is a notable statistical milestone, it is nothing to splash the pages everyday which happens only in India. The media these days does not wish to talk about Mrs Kocchar who was the favourite of every media house channel until recently.

toughest entrance test in India should go unquestioned to the CAT (for admission to the IIMs) for general category candidates who are graduates in engineering !
No other exam in India comes anywhere close in terms of toughness !
The JEE (for admission to the IITs) can be mastered by mediocre students who are diligent enough and who have been through the drill of years of training.
The UPSC exam for selection of civil servants is actually even easier, especially for mediocre candidates who are driven by their aspirations and who can eagerly go through the tedium of elaborate preparations !
But the CAT...............
Admittedly, the CAT is not much of a real test for those who enjoy the privilege of reservation.
The CAT is also not as tough for candidates who are graduates in non engineering subjects (say, commerce). The frontline IIMs (A,B,C,L) add their verbal scores to their total scores compared to quant scores getting added to total scores for engineers (which amounts to another kind of reservation).
But the CAT for general category candidates with a background in engineering..........
This is the toughest channel in any test in India !
To gain admission into one of the top 4 IIMs for general category candidates who are engineers, well, years of drill or determination alone wont do !! The candidate also would certainly need oodles of aptitude in quantitative skills, strategizing skills, stress handling, etc !
While I appreciate the hard work and efforts put in by Rohini, IAS, my question remains unanswered for many years. Why we have many IAS and IPS officers who hail from outside NEET Examination. How will a non-Tamil understand Tamil culture and the needs of the local people.

they teach you language and culture before posting, deputy collectors are from respective states from state board exams to assist.
The collector a honest and hard working at that, as we see through this article ,is doing a comendable job.May GOD bless her,People of salem and her family.
Without knowing ability of human being, criticising is meaning less. She achieved and doing best, serving nation to best of her ability. Instead of seeing positive abilities some people rely on -ve things. Same were observed here. But she is inspiring to working people... that is life. Namma collector- Nanige pride..
