Overcharging exists inspite of court rulings
by mandy rad on Sep 06, 2016 04:20 PM

It is a surprise that even in spite of court rulings, the private operators like ola have their own means of over charging. The fare comes up , however, there will be a clause stating that due to \\\"peak hour \\\" or etc, the fare will be 1.5 times the amount ,and do we want to continue.Clearly, the basic amount chargeable will not be the amount they would collect !!!!

Rude behaviour of Taxi and auto drivers
by asit das on Sep 06, 2016 12:33 PM

In many parameters we try to compare ourselves with America and Europe. This is for self satisfaction only, we are a century behind the developed countries. In London, to be a taxi driver he has to undergo a training course for three years. The taxi drivers are trained by expert professionals. Can we still compare with them?

taxi/autos

These are cheat people. Rude and insensitive. there should be only organised taxis and autos, with GPRS devices to track their movements and a fare control system to avoid their unguided and whimsical demands.

The situation is utterly bad.seems local Govt has given free hand to all transporting agencies.Be it a 3 wheeler or a taxi.Radio taxis xeldom come in time. They are after app calls or regrets from customer services. There is also peak hour surcharge.I agree with VVN Murthy to file in the court and take up the issue with Transport minister

Auto and Taxi woes - !!
by ramamani sadasivan on Sep 03, 2016 12:50 PM

TALK ABOUT AUTOS AND YOU CANNOT FORGET THE AUTOWALA OF CHENNAI...!!.. THEY ARE A BREED APART. NO GOVT FROM THE TWO DRAVIDIAN PARTIES, HAS BEEN ABLE TO TAME THIS BREED OF CHENNAI CITIZENS SINCE THE LAW ENFORCER ( POLICE ) ARE THEMSELVES PART OF THE FLEECING GANG. MANY OF THE AUTOS ARE OWNED BY POLICE MEN THEMSELVES AND RENTED OUT TO UNEMPLOYED DRIVERS ON A DAILY RENTAL BASIS. THE HIGHER THE RANK OF THE OWNER IN POLICE HIERARCHY, THE GREATER THE IMPUNITY WITH WHICH THE RENTED DRIVER FLOUTS THE RULES. IN MANY CASES THE LOCAL POLITICIAN IS ALSO A BENAMI OWNER OF THE AUTOS AND MOST OF THE BEAT POLICE KNOWS ABOUT THE REAL OWNER AND WOULD TURN A NELSON EYE ON THE VIOLATIONS OF SUCH AUTOS. IN THIS SITUATION, THE ADVENT OF OLA AND UBER HAVE GIVEN THE CITIZENS A BREATHER OF FRESH AIR ALTHOUGH THEY ALSO RESORT TO SURGE PRICING DURING PEAK HOURS. YET, THEY ARE A WELCOME CHANGE AND HENCE, THE GOVT WOULD DO BETTER TO LEAVE THESE UBER AND OLA IN PEACE.

Autos

The typical auto-stand in Chennai is where all these guys sit and chat the whole day. At the end of the day, when they realize that they haven't made their day's quote, the next customer stepping in fleeced upto 60-70 Rs. for a mere 2-3 kilometers.

The day they stop unionizing and believe in their individual hard-work is when people will go them. If even petrol price is increased by 50Ps, they charge their customers for it. When petrol prices are reduced, do they collect cheaper rates; no !!
It is high time people shun them in favour of organized cabs, respectful drivers and importantly, honest rates.
In closing, not all auto drivers are like this; just 98% of them give a bad name to the rest.

taxi/auto problems
by rajan melekalathil on Sep 02, 2016 06:55 PM

This problem is due to the nexus between the operators and taxi/auto drivers and gthe police who have to congtrol these ante social elements. It ias every where they say the meter is working you pay this much and the helpless traveller has to submit to their undue demands The police ofter take monthly bakshis from this operators and in some parts of the coungtry it reaches to thehigher levels also

Hyderabad auto drivers
by Manohar Rao on Sep 02, 2016 05:10 PM

are the rudest people on Earth. First they never agree for meter, and if you insist then they purposely use longer routes saying that the traffic is heavy on other routes or deny you the ride altogether. You have to always negotiate the price before ride and when the destination is near then they will suddenly increase the rate saying that you have given him a wrong address, if you do not agree, they will leave on the middle of the road and take full charges from you. If I say my house is near municipal office then they will drop me at municipal office and will not drop me at home.
Like these there are many examples to show that auto drivers are very rude in Hyderabad. Once one auto driver even asked extra money for carrying my four years old son saying that the auto is for only three people, I had my wife and another 7 years old kid. Is this not the height of auto drivers rudeness?

Ola, Uber and other pay taxis have issues of their own but atleast I need not have to face such insults which I normally face with auto drivers.
