I was a die hard fan of Hyderabadi Biryani till I had visited Lukhnow and tasted the authentic Awadhi Cuisine. Kolkata Biryani is somewhat similar to Lukhnow Biryani except Aloo. Now I shall rate 1. Lukhnow Biryani 2. Kolkata Biryani 3. Hyderabadi Biryani.

Nice attempt to disguise your Bengali chauvinism. You first insist that Kolkata and Lukhnow biriyanis are similar and then you very graciously rate Lukhnow first. We can read between the lines. Your name is Mukherjee. Says it all. Bengalis need to look beyond their noses.
The author has missed the Moradabadi Biryani which is unique in its flavour. Punjabi Biryani at Babboo Da Dhabha in Hoshiarpur(PB) is a must for any biryani lover

even I dont eat non veg, but love the flavours of Veg Hyderabadi Biryani.. Its not meant to be compulsory Non Veg only.................
I had the best biriyani of my life when i was a little kid of 5 yrs old in the 70s. The place was Leopolds Cafe at Colaba Mumbai. I can still remember the taste and aroma of that biriyani. It would melt in your mouth and the rice was thin and long line needles. I did not have anythig closer to that biriyani after that. I think the ustaad must have passed away after some years and he musthave not passed the secrets to others. Whoever had that biriyani are the lucky ones to witness a Royal art of a cousin.
Though Hyderabadi Biriyanis are served in many hotels, still authentic spicy Biriyany from Hotels like Raham's in Frazer town & on Kengal Hanumanthaiah road near to Richmond circle, Nandhini and Swati chain of Hotels and RRR Hotel near big clock tower(opp to Mysore Palace)in Mysooru are really mouth watering dishes
