We need to strike a balance and the issue highlighted here is an extreme case where a female employee was forced to wear high heels that hurt her feet. Generally, males don't have any problem with dress code. It is usually female employees who arrive for work as if they are going for some week end dance parties in mini skirts and kind of tops like gym bra showing of their bra straps. This should be avoided. And more often than not, the employers or HR department do not pull up female employees.
The Management should have the right to decide appropriate uniform codes for the employees. This helps in maintaining maintain parity, safety , uniformity and discipline in the workforce. It can also help in avoiding dresses, what some one find to be provocative to others.
A proper uniform gives a better look to the office. It will also curtail the inferiority complex among employees due to their status in the organization paving way for better connectivity among them.
As per business process there are toomany policies like QUALITY POLICY ENVIRONMENT POLICY SAFETY POLICY SOCIAL ACCOUNTABLE POLICY PROMOTION POLICY INCREMENT POLICY SEXUAL HARRESEMENT POLICY WHY NOT DRESS POLICY AT WORK PLACE ARMY / POLICE / FORCES ARE HAVING THEIR OWN DRESS CODE BUT IT SHOULD BE OPEN AND SAME FOR ALL
...is not suitable for "yes" or "no" poll. The need for dress code and the type of dress code may vary depending on the nature of work, image required for the jobs, organizations employers and clients.
