...is not suitable for "yes" or "no" poll. The need for dress code and the type of dress code may vary depending on the nature of work, image required for the jobs, organizations employers and clients.
I ONLY WANT TO ASK WHETHER THERE IS NOT A DRESS CODE FOR COMPANIES LIKE NMDC BEL AND OTHER SIMILAR.IT IS REGULAR PRACTICE TO GIVE CLOTH AND STITCHES CHARGES.NOW WHERE IS QUESTION OF MALE AND WOMAN.
Ideally, implementation of dress code means making employees to follow discipline. Although discipline is always painful, but it brings out quality. Similarly, following dress code is like keeping all employees in discipline & then bringing quality of organisation out for rest of world. Therefore, following dress code from employee point of view is painful, but it must be from employer point of view. Afterall, when a company or an organisation grows by following discipline, its win-win situation for all.
This is NOT a simple case of black or white. While employers deciding the kind of dress for employees may be intruding on the right of the employee, some industries [and more specifically some positions in those industries] certainly demand a dress code. Hence to me this question is inappropriate for a poll.
If specified, there has to be uniform code for all employees without gender discrimination. Employer can not ask employees to buy the dress from specified vendor, whether external or internal to the organisation. If specific dress is specified, it must be supplied free of cost. Coming to this specific case, I have found some interesting dress norm in Ausralian restaurants in the past. The restaurant supplies it if a specific dress is specified. If not, men are required to wear one of the standard pant/shirt combo sold in the market. Women may dress similar to men or wear another set of dress used in restaurants. In manufacturing industries and pharma units, employees are issued uniforms for reasons of safety and hygiene. The safety and hygiene requirements have to be followed by visitors also.
