Tuitions are bane
by Manohar Rao on May 17, 2015 07:16 PM

I feel that although tuitions are helping students to achieve higher grades, they are not allowing personality development and overall intellect of the student. The students nowadays have become nerds, you tell them small work and they have no clue how to do it and seek the help of their tutor instead.Indian education system encourage rote (mugging) instead of understanding the concept and tuitions are making it even worse, they teach the tricks of mugging.

You will understand what I mean to say if you have watched 3 idiots and understood its deeper meaning.

School have become costly and tuitions are adding to the cost.Slowing the basic education is going out of reach of lower middle class and middle class.

Are private tuitions the bane of Indian education?

I observe that coaching classes and private tuition are aimed for obtaining the students to get maximum marks in the examination. The students get very good marks but the understanding of basic subjects like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry are average and they are not suitable for R&D work. I consider that it is a very serious problem.

Private tuitions the bane of Indian education
by Jugal Kishore Sharma on May 16, 2015 05:15 PM

It is our society that does not appreciate the honest work done by our sincere teachers and believe that by sending their children to private tutors they will do well.I have been in teaching profession for 21 years and by giving my best in class produced very good result. My students realized this and could differentiate between good and bad teachers. They are in good positions today. Unfortunately their parents out of insecurity and believing that private tuition will do wonders still preferred tuitions. It is the parents who have to learn and believe in teachers, give their feedback and cooperate with good teachers improve the classroom learning.

tutions

The bane of our education system is not tuitions but reservation system followed in degree collages and government jobs.
There are only a few good schools and colleges and the rest function as day care centres and day time clubs where students pay a nominal fee to relax.
In such a situation marks obtained in a 3 hour exam are the only way to judge the student’s capability.
That leads to an obsession with marks with no focus on understanding and application of the concepts.
Can you imagine how relaxed students, parents and teachers would be if the reservation system is removed and students can get admission to all institutions purely based on merit.

Quite true.
I obtained 400% marks that of the nearest reserved class boy but I am unable to get a seat whereas he gets the chance. How then can I depend only on my school teachers? I have to get even higher marks so I go for tuition.
Respected Education Minister, please for once, rise above caste based politics and remove the reservation system from education in a phased manner and we the unreserved class and our future generation will forever remain grateful to you

Private Tuitions.
by Balasubramanian Swaminthaiyer on May 14, 2015 11:38 AM

The parents are responsible for this lacuna. Father and mother of the child donot find time to devote for the child as both are employed in most cases. Teachers anticipating extra income welcome the situation. A 4 year old child, my neighbor's grand son was not found in the evening and I asked the grand parents where is the boy. I was shocked hear their response. The LKG Student has gone to attend tuition as in future he may refuse to go and so he must be habituated. This shows their interest on their carelessness towards grandson.
