Mr. Gupta, I am sorry to hear about the stages your wife and rest of family members are going through. Could you please reveal the hospital and doctor's name so that people with similar situation can avoid such a hospital.
complications do occur. however surgeons must tell the possible risks clearly. more than 70 such cases every month is JUST NOT POSSIBLE any where in the world and is blatant misrepresantation of facts. there are many frauds in market. sufferer must expose name of doctor , hospital name etc and sue them , if =what he says is correct.
No, neither quota nor capitation fee is responsible. Medicine is a high stake, serious business and in my opinion should be totally state funded with healthcare professionals being looked after decently.

In this case specifically, surgery on a spinal cord tumor does have a possibility of paralytic complications, which would have supervened after some time even without surgery. But the patient and the family should be explained all this risk and benefits expected. Maybe, in this case also, this explanation was done. However, Indians are in a hurry to get the surgery done before it is done and blame the doctor, if anything goes wrong.

Maybe, Mr. Gupta should come out clean and describe honestly as to what he was told before surgery.
apart from quotas there are many medical colleges in India whose sole criteria for admissions is money.Think about what quality of doctors would be produced as the candidates pay around 60 lakhs for admissions.even this diagnostic clinics are like money swindling casinos.Stricter medical norms should be implimented in the country.
What if the doctor had got his medical degree in reserved category seat and not on merit. This is bound to happen when you give advantage to non deserving students.
