Post op quadriplegia after cervical spine tumor operation is known common complication . Not a negligence on part of surgeon . I cannot believe that surgeon did not discuss this preop with pts relative . Without operation she would have developed quadriplegia in 6 months time and would have died
Do not blame surgeon for all complications .
Dr Haren joshi vascular surgeon

Thanks rediff for this initiative.
do us one more favour, as it may not be possible for the patient to reveal the name of the doctor and hospital, could you reveal the name of this doctor and hospital to avoid future patients falling in this trap.
in this way you will be taking this initiative to a logical end.
we all know in India medical treatment has become a money spinning business for doctors, the minimum we can do ourselves now is to atleast educate people with a list of these doctors and hospitals to avoid poor people falling in the trap.
please understand just printing stories without data is no help to anyone.

I agree with Timothy. The media, by constantly concealing the names of doctors and hospitals involved in cases of so-called medical 'negligence' is doing a great disservice to the public.

The pharma companies shower many things to doctors like paid foreign trip for entire family, conference sponsorship, gifts, cars and what not. The doctors perform cesarean operations just to make money even it could have been a case of normal delivery ! Doctors in India have become so greedy that they can even sell their own parents for money! MCI is a corrupt body. Couple of years ago some MCI officials were caught granting green signal for a medical college in exchange for money. This is India where regulations are non-existent !

Hope Modijee correct the looting policy of Corporate Hospitals by making them accountable to Public as well as imposing strict tariff control in Corporate hospitals not to fleece the patients besides controlling MCI. An annual performance audit system should be there for CORPORATE AND GOVT.HOSPITALs with strict accountability.
