have done great disservice by portraying rich companies as some sort of evil.. on the contrary they manufacture most of the stuff that you use starting from toothbrush to diapers to cycles to medicines.

Better make yourself employable.
Do not ask for a job, but deserve it.
Be a man. Have some dignity.

Yes not all companies r not good, just like all employees r not good.

"Employees being laid off should think logically and move ahead with confidence. No organisation owes you a job for life. Companies are here to create wealth for their shareholders, not for giving life-time jobs to employees"
Oh Really??! Then the companies shdnt be asking for special favours from the govt ranging from tax cuts to cheap/free lands. When they start, they promise jobs and get all the favours from the govts. And when they see the first opportunity to make an extra buck by firing an employee, they do it. This is pure one-sided capitalism. One shd also remember that its the govt which has invested in creating the human resources which the companies make use of.

TCS is hiring massively. They have fired the inefficient ones. They want more freshers instead of experienced ones.

If u r no longer good at your work - then company will expect you to go away.

Will you sign a bond for working in that company for rest of your life? If not, then why expect co. to keep you with them forever?

TCS Lay off Lesson learnt
by TOOLS BANGALORE on Jan 08, 2015 09:31 PM  | Hide replies

When a trained employee leaves the organization it also feels same( cheated) They have invested in them for training and paid salary during such period, They have given offers before even one gets their degree etc etc.. and when technological or Business demand changes and the one who has not changed will obviously taken out.
If employees can quit the company for 15-20% more salary why not the companies to take out the employees for better financial management.
Even today we think the rich is always bad ( read companies)
It is like we have shed our sweat similarly they have also invested in you before you bring your first rupee to the organization ...

TCS to lay off 3000 IT professionals
by Varghese Samuel on Jan 08, 2015 10:34 AM

Observations of PKS are quite right.Employees must keep on changing jobs at regular intervals as no employer offers guarantee for life long job. Employer's only concern is to increase their wealth year after year and they are least concerned about employee's future.

These IT employees in Big companies like TCS are mostly self centred ..They are not bothered if their own brothern working in Other IT companies face such plight....They keep silent...carrying on with their business as usual...They are happy as long as It does not affect them ...Now It has started to affect them they are making huge noise and cries..!!!! Never mind happened is happened In future all employees of IT sector need to unite and protest whenever the other is in trouble ..Feel the pain of others too then your pain too will be eased..Best wishes to all IT workers..

This has been a rgular feature in Big well known IT companies for quite some time..But none working in TCS raised their voices..perhaps becoz it was not affecting them in large scale..so when it is pinching them they are reacting shouting feeding the media with all sort of articles....TCS workers are very selfish..

Lessons learnt....

That do not be greedy in asking for hefty salaries. Indian IT companies are avaricious for money. Management is arrogant and rude. For making the stock prices rise, they can do anything....fire employees in the name of underperformance, forge resumes, give false timelines, deliver substandard quality deliverables and do visa frauds.

You are right, the arrogance and rudeness of the companies rub off on the employees, they believe they are an elite group not concerned with the common people of the country. I for one am glad that such rude shocks will serve to wake up the youth of this country, stop living in an ivory tower

THESE ARE THE FRUITS OF CAPITALISM AND GLOBALISATION
by Vascado on Jan 07, 2015 05:19 PM  | Hide replies

During times of boom, these Companies indulge in mindless expansion and engage in reckless recruitment offering unsustainable salaries thereby creating an artificial feel good factor which contributes directly to fuelling inflation and over heating realty and share market prices hurting commoners with a cascading effect. While in recession, in an effort to protect their bottom line and sustain their profitability growth, they axe employees at will in the name of rationalizing man power and showcasing to the World that they are weeding out under performers. These are the fruits of the ugly Capitalism and free market economy where growth is mere delusion and boom and recession are cyclical factors with one negating another. Whatever artificial growth you manage to achieve during boom will be eroded comprehensively during recession whereby the real economy will enforce a correction on the manipulations and excesses that have been committed in terms of monetary mismanagement and debt pile ups. Unfortunately, it is the innocent employees and labourers who will face the heat when this moment strikes and that happens in regularity in a Capitalist oriented system.

Layoffs at TCS? Lessons we need to learn
by Prabhakar Waghodekar on Jan 07, 2015 05:07 PM

IT is a service sector dealing with software development, hardly a few products production does take place (compare with Korea, Thailand, Japan, etc.)contributing a little to the national wealth. The boom in IT fetched unimaginable/unprecedented high compensation to Indians reflecting its effects on salary of other sectors, see 6th Pay Commission. India does not have a national wage policy, and in India salaries are fixed not focused on productivity, not on job-difficulty points., but on status and academic qualifications. In fact, jobs with equal job difficulty points must be paid equally without regard to sector/local, short term demand. India is boasted to be the youngest country, 60% population of 122 crore fall in the age group below 35 years. How are we going to provide jobs to many hand with irrational compensation without regards to productivity?
