the city of loot.
by amit agarwal on Jun 02, 2014 07:38 PM

cunning, useless and corrupt politicians of maharashtra are the number one reason for the mess in mumbai. they just play divide and rule game. especially on the basis of language and caste or region. one community thinks that they are the only owners of this city rest all are outsiders. what nonsense? I want to ask in 1947 where were you? your mother has not brought this city in dowry. politicians don't do what needs to be done. for everything mumbai people pay the highest price. whether it is petrol, diesel, real estate, work life stress, personal life stress, medical expenses in private hospitals, taxi fare, road side food,in restaurants, time spent in travelling to work place and back home. mumbai life is a very stressful and boring life. by living in small small rooms your thoughts become too small. you can't even breathe fresh air. many people are forced to live here because of employment. mumbai's charm has being raped everyday by corrupt politicians and few greedy businessman. because of all these reasons many business families have left it for better quality of life. 1BHK flat is 1 crore. Today you cannot be sure whether you will earn even 1 crore in your life time because of rapid changes in job/business conditions. Every one is sunk in some sort of loan. Today smaller cities are the best if you have a business or job there.

Indians in general - with the exception of
by piri on Jun 01, 2014 12:40 PM

Keralites - have this special tolerance for the sight and odour of excreta lying around in the open !

They are often genuinely surprised when they find that someone thinks that the sight and odour of excreta pervading public places is not normal !

No wonder that more than 60 % of people in the self claimed shortly-to-be superpower continue to defecate in the open while the second placed Afghanistan in this 'merit-list' has only 17 % of its population doing so!

Roads in Bangalore are probably the worst.. its such a pain commuting even on weekends.. the whole city is chaotic.. full of fakes..lacking a distinct identity or culture..U have to be extremely blind if someone says bangalore's roads are better than chennai's.. i agree becos of metro work chennai's roads have suffered ..but it is still miles ahead of bangalore's..Chennai has good suburban railway system as well.. so do not be blind and biased..

fight fight fight...all venomous words by indians.. i wonder whether it is by a pakistani.. but this is what indian mentality. out mind is ugly, dirty so is our city. when our mind is ugly we accept our city also ugly and don't bother too much. the worlds dirtiest manners, behaviour, civic sense, sense of belonging, human gestures, no courtesy, no calmness, open defacation, talking loudly, stand/walk/climb anywhere...this is the identity of indian. this is not happening evening with africans. UN has listed all metros in india as uninhabitable in the next 20/30 years. no one can save india. The most indecent living thing on earth.

If Mumabai had got een half of the funds Delhi got from the nation, it would not stink. Mumbai and other cities stink because all the taxes of the nation end up with stinking Delhiites leaving nothing for the other cities to develop.

Why somebody? One of my enlightened friends from our locality had this to say, "Indians make foolish movies. In Madras they make good movies....."

No wonder the South had begun to think of themselves as a separate entity.

Mumbai the Great.

I dont agree with the above discussion.Mumbai is best place to get around you have trains at every 5 mins and that connects all main cities this trains run round the clock and stops hardly for 2 hours.BMC water is good quality, water in Blore,Chennai not very tasty.Women are really secure. You can access any place nationally and Internationally very easily.Only can hire taxi or Auto at very nominal charges.Cleanliness is an issue ,but which other city holds such a heavy population thus uncleanliness is natural if it is such a heavy population.Mumbai feeds many, even me I was born on that soil,I stay in small house, but now I am not the old poor guy,Mumbai gave me education and professional experience, now I am serving well abroad.Jai Mumbai

Hear, hear. Mumbai has superb public transport with unbelievably low fares. It would be even better if the ban on rickshaws in certain areas was lifted.

People in Mumbai have got so much used to Pollution, Filth and Sewage lying open around, Dense Population, EXTREMELY High Traffic, that they don't realize that this is NOT Normal.
Please don't say things are normal in MUmbai.
The report is absolutely correct.

Heavy population does not mean you have to be dirty. Many cities like Beijing, Bangkok are thickly populated but are much cleaner. By the way why dont they paint the buildings/ houses in Mumbai : all of them are so old , dirty and drab...

In terms of Dirtyness, Pollution, Population, Undoubtedly Mumabi is the worst.
Please don't get used to the filth.
In Monsoon, the whole of Mumbai is like a big gutter.
And believe me, this is really not normal. It is all because of the negligence of the municipality and the ineffective, corrupt government.

Municipality is only partly to blame. Indians buy nature are dirty and litter in public. A strong fine and monitoring system needs to be implemented by Modi to prevent this.
