The article does not make sense. I have hardly seen any Indian take his own tea, or extended family while traveling abroad!! Neither have I seen anyone be afraid of flying.
Re: Rediff staff :Now get out and cover some real news.

Haha, true.. Some points are very crazy like: 1. You will most likely be the only one who leans down to pick up a non-stick kadai or pressure cooker off the conveyor belt at baggage claim: Maybe Rediff thinks Kadais and Pressure cookers dont fit the luggage bag..
2. Chai and Khakra: Again, a WTF statement
3. Many boxes of Mangoes: RIP common sense
4. For trying to bargain down the standard fare, standing on his shoulder so you can look through the sunroof -- and then fail to tip him: Rediff thinks all Indians areChootiyas...?
5. You pack a mug into your luggage: This is something I havent seent till now. Rediff's editors andModerators have to start this practice now :)
I dont think any of this makes sense. Own Chai and Khakra?? really ??? has the writer ever travelled by air? The security check will ask you to throw away the liquid.. really dumb article :)
Useless article made up of assumptions. Seriously,I think we all can write better articles than this. A good chance to make some extra money through rediff.
more than that, while boarding, the gate-keeper announces clearly rows 21 to 30 etc...but only our indians (their row could be 2 or 3) will go and stand and watching the crowd moving. even if they were advised to go and sit, they wont

That is a sick habit which I have seen in many nationalities. In most cases, people act as if they never heard the instruction.. We arent the only culprits :)

Also, Indians are the only ones I've see who remove their seat belts the moment the aircraft's wheels touch the ground, and jump up to take their luggage from the overhead rack!!
first sentence itself is wrong.. we indians are ashamed of ourself.. if some twisted statistic says bad abt india, we happily accept it and start abusing india.. if some says good abt india.. we start finding loophole in that and never trust it.. India is not progressing much because of the lack of self respect and pride.
The author must have gone back during pre 1991 era (23 years) when Indians may have or did follow some of the things that is mentioned here. However, it is 21 century and I do not think this is true and I am shocked the author is sharing this information in this era. Is it possible the author pulled out an older article and inserted here.

sorry to bust your myth, but I personally know people from south who carry home cooked food (even when travelling in India)and do lots of puja before starting their journey

Agree with most of the things you say Ranadip, but doing puja (even lots of it) is not despicable..

this will hurt north indians.. we indians are ok if someone defame india.. but, get very sentimental when our state or locality is defamed.. that shows we are not patriotic..

as far as I am aware only Kerala is having very high literacy rate, tht too its not 100%, so on wht basis are you saying tht whole of south India is educated when you said "South indians are educated"
