women safe

We can improve the safety of women but, unfortunately, cannot make the world absolutely safe for them. No country in the world has been able to prevent rape and other sexual acts. In India the media gives banner headlines and TV repeats the news ad nauseam. That gives an impression of prevalence to too many rapes. No doubt even one rape is unpardonable, but we live in the world where they are prevalent. In India and eastern countries it is treated as a blot on the concerned woman for life. It is not so in all the countries. So though unpardonable the news does not attract as much attention as in our country. Rape should be considered as an unpardonable act but shd not be held against the victim, no stigma shd be attached to her. and victim shd be treated as one wld treat a person who is physically attacked. There are young boys who are sexually exploited but there are not so many banner headlines and repetitive news on Tvs. If above mentioned things are avoided women will be able to get over her trauma early.

IT's THE ECONOMY STUPID!
by Kabeer on Dec 08, 2014 03:02 PM

It's all about the economy, stupid!

For these people there is no difference in life between spending time behind the bars or outside; in fact, spending time behind the bars looks like even more comfortable as they are assured a shade over their heads and some assured meals every day and physical safety assured.

For the poorest living on the roads none of them exist; they are ravaged by people every day.

The fruits of liberalisation has benefitted only the rich and to support reaping those benefits, the middle and upper middle classes have supported them.

The whole world is seeing this; the poor are seeing this, how some people are so comfortable in life and some like theirs are not.

Crime is always a function of poverty.

In the US Blacks are poorer and most crimes are attached to them. Society ignorantly stated that Blacks are more crime prone than the Whites without realising that the poorer sections of the society that has nothing to lose are prone to crime.

This case may be slightly different.
But then you have Tarun Tejpals too!
