All prime land in Maharashtra should be set aside for migrants.

Hey Marathis remember this belongs to migrating hordes from the you know where...

Trees are not as important as migrant rights.

If migrants need it - every single tree should be CHOPPED down (esp in Maharashtra).

Migrant rights especially in Maharashtra trumps all other rights. Trees? Give me a break....

India belongs to migrants and migrant rights trump trees, plants and wildlife.

Resettle the migrants here, chop down the trees and to heck with plants and wildlife.

The locals will complain but you can dismiss them as parochial and narrow minded.

Earth to Sai Ram - Mumbai is not in Western Ghats.

Earth to Sai Ram - Mumbai water supply however comes from Western Ghat dams in "Maharashtra" - not UP, not Bihar, not Ganga Maiyya but from Maharashtra.

Earth to Sai Ram - No India does not have energy resources for reverse osmosis to get fresh water from sea for Mumbai. The cost for each acre foot of water is astronomical.

Maharashtra gives Mumbai its most precious resource "Fresh Water" which even Ram from Ganga Maiyya Land does not give. So run along .....

In case you don't understand all this means regardless of what a state is on a piece of paper, more migrants in Mumbai or Maharashtra is a strain on the local ecology, trees, dams needed etc.

States on pieces of paper don't change physical reality.

I agree Mr. NashikMarathi, other state people must stay in their respective states and should not tresspass into other states of India for any reason.

It would help if you are so concerned about the "trees" etc. More migrants in these areas means more ecological damage - more dams needed etc. Ganga Maiyya does not provide water to Maharashtra - new dams have to be built in Western Ghats etc.

While the route is certainly picturesque, the train itself is attrociously bad and so is the service in the train. Nothing available for eating. One has to get off at the Stations and search for the catering, which if luck is bad could be at the other end of the platform. The carriages are all in terribly bad condition. Most seats in the AC Chaircar are broken. Many of them do not have proper back rests and food trays are tied with strings as the holding clamps are all broken. My experience of this train was absolutely bad. The scenic beauty of the 58 m was the only saving grace.

Unfair comment. During British times there were four classes of travel: First, second, inter and third. No fans or cushions in third class. Air conditioning was by use of ice blocks and meant only for white people. Now you can book your ticket on line without moving out of your room, travel in air conditioned comfort in a fast train, no need to change trains for journey, your ticket includes meals. I recall with horror the travails of yesteryears when reserving a ticket from Kanpur to Hyderabad meant a three day wait as a telegram was to be sent to Jhansi from Kanpur. Journey from Kanpur to Jhansi was by cattle class, suspense until reaching Jhansi about confirmed reservation.
Now we have ISO certified trains. If we still feel some discomfort please remember how the population is growing.

I recollect that old era when onward reservations were done by sending telegrams to the cooresponding station.
My father had booked for us for a Miraj to Madgaon journey, from Mumbai. On arrival at Miraj station, we were told that they did not get any telegram, hence no booking. Finally we had to travel in an Unreserved compartment - for a whole night journey. Even after 40 years, that is still the worst journey we ever had.
Thanks to new electronic reservation, we are absolutely sure about a reserved seat.

Konkan railway is for the benefit of pouring north Indian migrants directly into the Konkan.
