How to lodge a complaint against your bank

I was having 2 s/b a/c with Standard Chartered Bank, RB Avenue, Calcutta. I issued a cheque of 10000/-( Ten Thousand) for the purchase of a domestic equipment. I heard from them the cheque is bounced & I had to shell out 500/- penalty to the vendor & pay Rs 10500/- in cash to them.
I went to the Bank & came to know that my a/c has been blocked for KYC reason WITHOUT any intimation to me.
Should the customers cant expect a minimum etiquette from the Bank to get an intimation ( SMS or so) before blocking & getting us insulted by the third party for Cheque bouncing.
I was so much annoyed with the bank, I closed the said a/c & another a/c too .
I want the Banks shd be more cooperative & informative & not harass the clients.

I have observed that 90% of managers in most banks are trying to fool around. I recently had a discussion with a branch manager of SBI, who asked me to buy Accidental Insurance from SBI general insurance, if I want to open SB Account. I had to remind him that insurance is a subject matter of solicitation and he cannot force me to buy insurance. Similarly, on yet another occasion I sent my complaint to banking ombudsman, to get the problem addressed.
Very few banks and the managers treat their customers properly. Larger banks like SBI are the worst in this.

SBI Worst Bank

In SBI none of their staff afaraid of any regulators. They have made so much fine system to harasses thei customers that you have no alternative but to give them bribe to do your work or else they will give open challage to customers that they can go anywhere and comaplainr against them

I'm having an s/b a/c at State Bank of India, Dhakuria, Calcutta. In one fine morning last month, I got a message crediting my pension, but the balance shown as ZERO.
I ran to the bank only with one request that they have blocked my a/c for KYC which they shd no do WITHOUT any intimation & for that I a 70 years old person has to run to Bank, with tension & stress.
I want all the Banks to be ethical on this issue.

The Banking complain

The bank has funny system of complain redressal system. The Branch manager is not doing your work. So first you have to give him 8 to 10 request and them 8 to 01 reminders request for work. After this you lodge the compliant on line complainst. There after immidiatly on next day some reply come from branch manager and some SMS comes to you telling that your complaint has been resolved. The next day complaint is shown as resolved and removed. The customers are never consulted before removing the complaints. The opinion of Branch manager is taken against whom you have made complaint for harassening customers. The branch manager power is supreme and it is not appelable. The Customer service department from top to bottom is corrupt. Due to this customer has to bow down and give somthing to branch manager if he wanted to get their work done. Due to faulty system of reoslving the complaints there is large scale corruption in the bank ing system.

My mother having a joint s/b a/c with me & my brother at Standard Chartered Bank, Jodhpur Park, Calcutta , died in Nov 2007. We submitted Death Certificate of my mother with a letter to make the a/c in my & my bro's name (joint).
No action taken & the letter coming in my mom's name though about 7 years past .
