Banks are cheating.
by ramachandra menon on Nov 13, 2013 12:40 PM

Once my cheque issued to Idea cellular was returned by Citibank "cheque not proper" I asked my bankers and they said they have not returned the cheque, I asked Citibank they did not reply. I threatened to go to Facebook and post the entire episode. Then they replied that the cheques were returned by the clearing house. I told them it is a wrongful dishonour and I am entitled for liquidated damages etc. They just keep quiet.

Are Banks cheating you
by ramachandra menon on Nov 13, 2013 12:35 PM

There is an interesting article in the Readers Digest on this subject. They have quoted a case where the bank took away Rs.7 lakhs from the FD of a old man promising him a better return etc. They made him sign forms which of course he did not read. Finally when he knew that he has been cheated, he took up with them and they were very stubborn. Even the court did not accept his arguments and said that he has accepted their terms and conditions. Finally he got T shirts printed speciall with a message and went and sang songs and danced in the banking hall when lot of customers were there. Fearing for the adverse publicity he was giving, the bank ultimately came around and refunded his money.

Debit Card?
by Nagarajan Viswanathan on Nov 12, 2013 08:33 AM

Bank issued debit cards, saying,it is free of cost and for the convenience of the bank? Now they have started charging every year for every card?
This is a breach of contract/promise?

RBI Ombudsman does not work for customers
by sri aytha on Nov 11, 2013 01:00 PM  | Hide replies

I had an issue with ICICI credit card. SOme one used my card for unauthorized transactions. We had complained about the same with bank and fought for long time but bank said 3D secure pin was used so we won't take up the issue. There are so many similar complaints against ICICI credit cards which shows they are very very poor not only at customer service but also at securing important information like 3D Secure pin. We finally took up the issue to RBI Ombudsman hoping they will bend the bank, but they simply believed what bank said and said we too cannot help. It is like ombudsman does not want to serve customers but escape its duty. I suggest people to not use ICICI cards and also it will most likely be waste of time and effort reaching to RBI ombudsman in these cases. All hope is gone and one and half months salary gone because of ICICI bank and RBI's inaction. Best is to avoid ICICI services.Better late than never and prevention is better than cure..

Whole Banking system is corrupt lead by SBI and ICICI.
These bank are only for the big borrower only who take away money of bank but their officer get very hafty bribe. So one has to go to small and medium bank only. In fact SBI is telling openly small customers to go from their branches

Ombudsman usually is an ex-banker so it goes without saying whose voice will be heard.
We must shout for the Judiciary to Bring an Ombudsman from a respected citizen who is not a Banker.

I faced a problem with ICICI Cr. card too. I paid my dues (11,000 )in full by combination of cash and balance transfer and cancelled the card. Despite the cancellation, they sent me a replace ment card. I told that its closed and they dint listen to me. I also did not bother about it. Then one day they called me and told me that the card is closed and
sent me a revised statement saying that i dont owe them any money.

After a week I got a call from their credit control office and went there to meet them in person..

THe girl who came to meet me, told me that I had to pay them 9000/-. She showed me a print out in A4 sheet paper which she claimed was my statement. I produced the statement from ICICI stating that I dont have any O/S, She could not speak a word. I warned her that I will go again for a Cr. Card and make them roam like dogs behind me for the money

I SHUN ICICI now completly

Standard Chartered Bank, RB Avenue, calcutta
by Nitin Ray on Nov 11, 2013 12:59 PM

I was having 2 s/b a/c with Standard Chartered Bank, RB Avenue, Calcutta. I issued a cheque of 10000/-( Ten Thousand) for the purchase of a domestic equipment. I heard from them the cheque is bounced & I had to shell out 500/- penalty to the vendor & pay Rs 10500/- in cash to them.
I went to the Bank & came to know that my a/c has been blocked for KYC reason WITHOUT any intimation to me.
Should the customers cant expect a minimum etiquette from the Bank to get an intimation ( SMS or so) before blocking & getting us insulted by the third party for Cheque bouncing.
I was so much annoyed with the bank, I closed the said a/c & another a/c too .
I want the Banks shd be more cooperative & informative & not harass the clients.
