Great
by Animesh Naskar on Jan 29, 2013 06:24 PM  | Hide replies

Feel happy for this lad. A real talent he must be. But get depressed by comparing the per capita income of our country.
Few tips to him if he is reading this:

1. With big salary comes big expectations and return on investment from the company. Is he ready for that?
2. Once he joins, he cannot change his job for at least a decade even if he doesn't like his work since no other company will offer such a big amount plus hike.

"many IT n non IT ppl don't even reach that kind of pay all their life"

Yes, not in India they don't!

But Rush Bush is going to be in for a rude awakening when he finds out the salaries of his co-workers on the Mountain View campus!

Funny you should talk about "not reaching that kind of pay" because you probably make more money than all the previous generations of Indian office babus put together!

Should we marvel this feat of yours too?

You seem to be speaking so authoritatively on this subject from your own personal experience with the use of these medication on yourself!

What happened?

What did you try to do?

In India, yes! In US, no!

The closest they come to reservations in the US is with 'Affirmative Action' (AA) but you have to be African-American for that!

On second thoughts, you may qualify for AA if you have really dark skin and wear pants that are 4 or 5 sizes larger than you need them to be!

Ultimately
by John Carter on Jan 29, 2013 04:21 PM  | Hide replies

It all ultimately boils down to exchange rate and standard of living!

If Google was paying him this salary for working and living in India, it would be truly newsworthy!

But if he is going to be paid this salary for working and living in the SF bay area, it is nothing great!

Intel,

"Others" in SF Bay area are already "doing better"!

Who are we supposed to inspire then?

No way in h 3 l l is any fresher going to get this salary in India!

So why pump people up for an ultimately disappointing run?

How gullible can people be
by Amod Karnik on Jan 29, 2013 04:13 PM  | Hide replies

1.16 crore per annum is first of all by the nominal conversion rate. It comes to approx 19000 dollars per month. And i can assure you that if you take out his training expenditure, travel allowance etc, it will be less than 8000 dollars per month.

Now, people in this blog are free to call me a loser...have seen all these gimmicks and i know what is the reality...Pls ask Mr Rushabh to to show his post tax salary per month and it wont be even 8000 dollars per month...

No man..
You are close to being correct ..That 8000 may be around 14000 but not beyond that..
My cousin bro got an offer of 1.2 crores when he was in IITKanpur
his post tax income was 9000 USD per month
Who will know better than me

commendable job
by ASenguta on Jan 29, 2013 03:26 PM

All my acquaintances in Australia who work as an Indian employee in TCS/IBM /Wipro, Infy , cognizent etc..( fio aveg support resourc eto program director) ean between 78000-105000K pr annum.. Still staying with a wife and a child, they usally save between apprx. 1.2-1.5 million INR per yr ( assuming cost of living in australia will be approx. 1400 AUD (rent) 1100 AUD (othe expenses) ..Th tax in Australia is fairly high and a savings of 25000-30000 AUD translates into teh above INR amount.. If someone is wrking in an Australia coplany sakary will be little higher but australians ahave higher standard of living as well copare to an Indian family..Personally with a little higher sa;ary i have saved close to 4.5 Million INR per annum after paying 40000 AUD as tax .So even by international standard the salary that guyis getting is really high...
Cost of living in US is much less compre to Aud and even considering the lower exchge rate that guy will save a hefty amount (close to 45% of his salary)..
