You should avoid traveling/living/working in India. India is an **uncivilized nation** for your girl child. 4th most dangerous place and only a little better than war-ravaged Afghanistan and Congo.

You are right. We should hand over the reigns to the descendants of the original rulers of the country whom Indira Gandhi cheated wholesle. by abolishing their privy purses.
Women are normally safe in night working too, they are working also at many places,yes stray cases in a big population cannot be ruled out, however they must keep few precautions for their safety keeping in view social norms.
