help the community you live in
by Raghavendra Bhat on Apr 18, 2013 09:17 AM

All these high scores are but stepping stones to help move forward. Going to the USA and studying there is good, the greater glory is finally doing solid service for the community you live in, wherever you are. It might be the USA where one may finally settle down or it may be back here in India. A globally connected world would finally be shorn of national boundaries, so focus on doing the maximum for the community, the computing community!

Hearty Congrats
by One Liner on Apr 18, 2013 09:05 AM  | Hide replies

Really great achievement.
What made me smile/laugh is her assertion "..so that I can come back and do something for my own country..". Believe it or not this is a real dream of more than 50% of the people (generally speaking) who come over to the US. But after some time reality hits. When you think of struggle for day-to-day things like water, cooking gas, petrol, electricity, decent road/transportation, the resolve melts.
However once some decent money is made or getting hit by some other realities of west such as frequent layoffs, fragile families, confused values for the kids, constant discord between parents and children, the love for "India" rekindles. But by that time it would be too late as you would have too many roots there. Having experienced the pain of uprooting once, you would not want to do that again. So you get stuck and the evening of life is spent alone in a elder home or a nursing home. Have seen this story repeat like an endless loop

Rightly said buddy. It doesnt matter whether you are in India or US. You should never forget you mother land and should keep in mind to always respect your mother land and never talk bad in front of others. And the most important thing is to help the people around you when in need. There isnt any difference between people living in India, US or any other country and thats what has been our culture "Vasudeva kutumbakam".

Yes. You should always remember your motherland. The government may want to suck you dry with tax without any facilities of healthcare or education, the politicians may be corrupt but never forget your motherland. Real estate and companies may be going in the hands of mafia and politicians gradually but you must return. Politicians may mock the poverty of the people with their insensitive comments but India is great. You may spend several hours stuck in traffic everyday and return home to find out there is no power but India is our motherland. Throughout your education and career you may have to tolerate incompetent fools getting breaks because of reservation but you have to come back. Your car may be get towed away and beggars may sleep on the same footpath everyday for years without anyone disturbing them but my Bharat is Mahaan. You may not have a flat and hutment dwellers squatting illegally are distributed flats every year but you must return to this land of Milk and Honey.

You seem to be one frustrated lady, and clearly shows your upbringing. I pity you. You and me are from India why do you think you and me feel so differently about the country. For that matter there are millions of others happily living in India and abroad and they dont feel or crib like you. One should be really blessed to have been born in this land. I do agree there are people who have messed up the country so much and have created the problems but that doesnt mean you need to blame and degrade the country. If i ever have any more lives i would like to be born again in this land.

Anushka is right..we should wait till some one comes down from heaven & clean up our country...Its not our job, we should have everything ready made with the red carpet rolled out.

Agreed to what you say but when you want to grow intellectually India is not the right place to be in the world. We all have our moments of truth and a subconscious brain already knows that. Cons of coming back to India is the existing attitude in the country for corruption and peoples tolerance to it at the highest level. This not going to let us climb the ladders soon in development. If anybody who wants grow more in intellect and contribute to his or her field of expertise you should SWALLOW THE BITTER PILL. If a person reaches his NIRVANA and wishes to remain stagnant and bury their talents WELCOME BACK TO INDIA
