Do the people conducting survey know Why INDIA is termed INCREDIBLE? In spite of acute diversity in terms of culture, habits, dress, food, social rituals, religious beliefs and faith; people of India are living in complete harmony. They regard each other and value individuals sentiments. There lies a common culture at the root of apparent diversity and it baffles the world. No Indian hate anyone living in any part of India/world. It is pity that few, either with distinct ulterior motives or under influence of some vested interests, are bent upon spreading hatred amongst us. It is my considered opinion and humble suggestion that such kind of survey should immediately be withdrawn as it will also act as a tool into the hands of unscrupulous ones who are not scared of going to any length to destroy the very basic fabric which has kept us united since thousands of years. There are very few nations who have as long a history as India but none of such nations today, except India, has any continuation with their past. Does the Romans of today resemble in any way with those who had built Rome ? Do the Egyptians who built Pyramids resemble to there erstwhile culture? Where are Sumer and Babylon, our contemporaries ? It is such remarkable continuance that makes India Incredible, Dear, and we all love it, love its people and love its soil and cities.

My foot - the North despises the South, Assam do not like outsiders, Bangalore is for them only, Kashmir..less said, Ahmedabad...I don't know...read it in newspapers, Kolkata - corruption is the only place you get solace in, Delhi - you don't have a car you are f....., you have a car, you are f....., Mumbai - ask Bal Tahckerey

There are 15 national languages? Have you ever thought of learning atleast 1 or 2 other languages other than your mother tongue, Hindi? If yes, why should only Tamils or for that matter Kannadigas, Malayalis or Telugus learn one other language that is not their mother tongue? Please don't impose! If you believe Hindi is the only bridge of nationalism and patriotism, we dont want it. We can live without it.

Absolutely right. I have never seen a north Indian[ Delhite, Haryanvi, Himachali, UP wala, Bihari, MP ] learn any other language other than Hindi. Atleast Maharashtrians, Gujaratis, Bengalis, Punjabis etc, know atleast their Mother tongue & Hindi. Why should the Southern states have Hindi Imposed upon them. Why cannot we given options to learn instead of forcing us? Why cannot these northies learn to assimilate?

When we go to Spain or Portugal or Greece, we don't know that language, but speak in English. Or if you are in Germany, you still try to converse in English. Or when you go to Dubai, you still manage with your English, even though you can speak in Malayalam, Hindi or Tamil to survive there. Or you go to Singapore or Malaysia, you still want to converse in English even though you can manage with Tamil there.
What it teaches you? Learn and adopt a native language, if you want to go to that country or else, English is there.
Well with English you are there everywhere in India, certainly in South India, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Bengal. Rest of the place, you need to learn Hindi to be there... to a larger extent. Well, that is the fact. Do we have alternative to Hindi.. yes ofcourse, as we are conversing only English... not in Hindi or any other lanuguage in this Rediff.
