Though it is a pity that both the offender and the victim have suffered, we cannot condone such crimes. Freedom should be practised with restraint and responsibility. Money power, lifestyle, impact of movies and media, peer pressure should have adversely affected such offenders. Such severe punishments would serve as a reminder to all others to be cautious and respectful of others' lives. I favour such strong punishments as has been given in this case.
let them die their own way...either way they are useless chaps... And put those behind the bars for life time who kills innocent peoples on the road ..
The law has clearly warned: “don’t drink and drive”.
But how much is bad enough to meet with death, or even suffer a broken skull? The answer lies with the drinker himself, or herself. To some, one peg may suffice to go reeling to the floor, to others, even four may not be sufficient to get into a four-letter abuse. Yet, some others may increase levels of their driving skills, by decreasing levels in the bottle. In all cases, it’s all about social consciousness.
For example, a guy is invited to a party and gets loaded. I mean he is drunk. His host or the others in the party who shy away from alcohol, or drink sensibly not to be drunk, must prevent him from driving back home. In fact, they must help the drunk get back there by any other means possible. On the other hand, if a sober start ends up with a binge without the least concern about driving home, it amounts to an insult to sanity. Avoiding overindulgence in spirits stands to reason even if driving is not an issue of concern, and awareness of it must be promoted in society. That is the best way to ‘avoid driving, if drunk', and not as the law says: “don't drink and drive”. This latter slogan is a joke. Who doesn’t?

That is too harsh. But where are we heading. Women Liberation has lost its cause and direction.

That is rather harsh. It is a cultural problem. It is a shame that women liberation has lost its meaning or purpose.

There should be zero tolerance to such offences as it is nothing but reckless behaviour and completely avoidable. In certain countries (Saudi arabia I believe), people who fail the breathalyser test are made to sit though an hour of footage of real crashes caught on video. The sight of the mangled bodies and the resulting horror has the power to make the most hardened of hearts crumble and ensures they would not do the same mistake again. Maybe, something like that is in order in here too, where everyday democracy is misused by the very same people who chose to vote for it.
Ban completely drink driving. Seize the vehicle, cancel the driving licence, put the driver behind the bars in prison without bail for 6 months and then jail the driver for 10 years. Also fine the driver (in case of salman khan) 1 crore compensation for the unfortunate victim.
