This rating system proves the low standards of Rediff. In rating colleges/universities the main factor to be considered is capitation fee/donations which has not been touched upon by Rediff.
For instance, in TN there are only 2 engg colleges which does not collect capitation fee/donations and those are SSN College of Engineering & SASTRA University but they are ranked way below VIT, Amirtha etc.,
The rating is absolutely absurd and the very basis itself is questionable?

exactly.... this is absolutely rubbish..as far as know.. WALCHAND College of Engineering (AA) in Sangli Maharashtra...is much much higher in faculty, liberary..curricullam than Dr. JJ Magdum college of engineering (AA ) Kohlapur. Walchand college has 60 years of excellance since before from independence..... the point is Rediff is rubbisshhhhhhhh

Your heading 'worst-unskilled' would actually mean 'best-skilled' - A fact you probably just can't accept!!
Best 1000 best Engineering collges are found only in Delhi,gurgoan,gaziabad,Up,haryana.Not even a single from the South especially from TN .Tn is useless backward area.

U are useless... The best institute in India is Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Its 13th in world ranking -- forget India... This list does not contain this institute because it does not offer a BE degree
