Social Need...
by New Person on May 21, 2012 08:55 PM

as a society, we tend to achieve goals those we can only dream of. That's the reason we celebrate individual excellence across fields. It satisfies our curiosity to challenge our surroundings and in a way to move on as a society.
What will be the inspiration for someone to excel? It has to be success...just as not human are same, not all success parameters are same. As a society, its our responsibility to define those success parameters.
Jealousy or not, this defines the success parameters we have agreed to as a society.

He is right...

..when he says now anyone can get into iit. Seriously, someone who reads Chetan Bhagat gets the top rank?!! This shows the degradation in quality of the students brought in by the coaching classes. Now this JEE also has become like board exams.. slog, slog, slog.. like donekey..and you crack it. No element of raw intelligence. Anyway, one can also say that these coaching classes have made it more democratic by making the iit Btech accessible to anyone who is ready to torture him/herself in preparing.

root cause of jealously is when you start thinking that its you, who should have been in the driving seat rather than the other guy!

Possible solution, try to get inspired for the next time.
Think that Everyone is unique, you may be fit for something else or just accept the defeat and move on for something you can achieve!

Congrats
by MM on May 21, 2012 02:38 PM  | Hide replies

Well, topping is the symbol of focus, dedication, effort. This shows that He has capacity and willingness to focus and dedicate at the cost of other interests. But how long his mind agrees to that is a question.

Caution: This may lead to lack of practical knowledge like what is good and what is not, may dream to become big and end up joining a Govt. research lab. But, on practical plane, he has to face politics, lobbying, favoritism, sycofancy, managing with people etc. Like for example reading chemistry looks interesting but real chemistry involves 10% subject and 90% labor including management etc.

Hence, Congrats for achievement. But be aware that real life is different from dream and focus.. look around and act accordingly if you wish to top in a profession latter.

Best wishes,

You have got a point. Instead of going to USA, he should join IAS etc and get tossed around by some obscure netas, prepare khainee for them and lift gamcha off the floor in a public rally !!!

Give the kid a break!!! Let him decide what he wants to do. As such he will already be under pressure to perform for next four years (or perhaps life long) to keep the bragging rights of a topper.

Hi you have mentioned many times that you love chemistry..the best subject..but why to chose engineering? Yeah I agree you got the rank..but once you join the engineering.u have to kill your passion and u will be one among the herd..select Chemical science and technology..offered by some of the IITs that will be a great idea!!

unfortunately chemical science and technology or chemical engineering does not dwell too much into organic chemistry either. So if you very passionate about chemistry a better idea will be to enroll for Chemistry as a degree and not any engineering degree!

An achiever's passion is achievement - not any particular subject!! He worked hard for IIT JEE because that's what the world around him told him is the most coveted thing for a lad his age.
