Around 42 to 45 per cent engineers demonstrate capabilities in English required for the knowledge-based industry.

What does this mean?
What is knowledge based industry? Only call centers?

I think they just want to make the names as Indians are delivering good quality products across the industries. for e.g Medical Transcripts, KPOs, BPOs and IT.

Ask this company how many US and UK (predominant English speaker) residents can write proper English (go and check BBC survey).
From last 3 years only Indians are winning spelling contest in these countries...

unlike the Japanese and Chinese we have large number of languages. Hence English is required as a bridge language

subba, if this is the reason then we could have gone with sanskrit as bridge language. Fact is that we are still slaves. Continuation of english is proof of that
