Though i may agree with most of the points given by Divya Nair, the problem mainly lies with the individual? Most of us do not know as to what we want in life;education or profession or marriage? We blindly do a BE and MBA, and start looking for a job?We settle at last for what we feel as best out of the bad bargain? There is no perfect job, boss or colleagues?Life is a journey of compromises?

Well said. May I add a point.. that we are all so worried about the society and feel we have to do what everone else does...
do what your heart says or join IIT/ IIM for a respectful life ahead. our parents have spend their entire life working in govt job and they are more happy than us today.
1. understand that No company as such exists at any moment. It is only a 'named group' of indivisuals. 2. self interest is the prime force in existance in all things. 3. A job will never give satisfaction..even if it does only momentary. 4. one must consitently attempt at job to climb the corporate ladder to earn more money. I know ppl are going to say i am materialistic now.but think abt your needs, wants, family, aging parents, escalating cost of medicines and everything govt tax and inflation :)
5. Job is a way to earn a living. There is no question of satisfaction in it atleast in sense that it is not the purpose. When you walk home every month the only thing that counts is how much you take home.
If one does not want to bend in front of theworld and live his own life i think the only best option there always has been is being a farmer and being very educated and professional about it. afterall if stomch is satisfied half of battle is won :)

sting said " I am passionate about music.success and money was a byproduct"
if you are oassionate about something that you maintain excpetionally high standards compared to competitors , other things wioll fal into place.
it works better that way.
and don't tell me mediocre/average people lead their own life ...we pretty well know the turth of that

being passionate is very good. but Exceptionally high standards in competition costs quality of Life. Tell me more junk about it :) ...My director in project works from NY from 4AM in the morning till 10 PM night and he really loves the job..but guess what he accepts fact that he does not have a very good personal life / balance with family..
Even Apple owner Steve Jobs being incredibally hard working was not having time for family / wife and guess what many of his team mates themselves hated him..
one thing you must realize is extremely competitive means you are working like a donkey mad to make sure you dont loose the game and someone else does :). ..what a pity in life...The nature never judges anyone..does it ever ?
Man is a cruel machine..of evolution.. thats all..
