IITJEE 2013

Yes the plan of minister MHRD is very much appreciated. with the introduction of 40% weightage to 2 the students shall be encouraged to attend the school regularly and build interest in basic science as well as the academic environment of the country shall be better and not confined to mere coaching outside the schools. it shall also relieve the burden on the students and the students can study freely.

Scrapping JEE
by Premkumar Sethumadhavan on Feb 23, 2012 07:07 PM

The most unfair part of the new plan is to give 40% weightage to Board marks. Does it require one to be an Einstein to understand that whatever efforts have been made by statistical institute to normalize board marks, there is no running away from comparing apples to oranges as recommended by the new system? The whole country knows that state boards are much more liberal in offering marks to their students than CBSE. Can't we all visualize that from 11th class admissions in 2012, all CBSE students from Class X will switch to state board schools in 11th for scoring higher marks in and hence higher percentile 12th? Does Central HRD ministry want to close 11th and 12th classes in CBSE schools? Unless the syllabi and scoring patterns across the country is made uniform among all boards or one single board establised for all class XII students across the country, giving weightage to class XII marks is nothing but preposterous and shortsighted. Moreover all current Class XI students have played the game halfway without knowing the rules of the game. This is very unfair on them. I urge all well meaning academicians, parents and students in the country to unite and call for the system to be implemented not earlier than IIT and NIT admissions of 2014.

scraping of IIT/AIEEE...
by ahmed nehal on Feb 23, 2012 05:09 PM

this is really opposing the future of iit's brand future.., as a student of cramming pattern class 12th score more than a student who get lesser in 12th class but more conceptual and technical, they will be given the same standard or one crammer may be more..,in this way the raw mind will not be able to enter iits. and crammers will take all the seats of there...and finally taking iit future a normal b-tech manufacturer.. .

Unfair to scrapping of JEE/AIEEE
by manvendra ghosh on Feb 22, 2012 06:40 PM

It is unfair to scrap IIT JEE/AIEE by a common test ISEET because of the following reason:
1. Test done for screening and the students who are not the aspirant of the IIT/AIEEE will have to unnecessarily appear for the same.
2. It will be very difficult to arrive at a common syllabus for test agreed by all boards/ state government.
3. In our school syllabus and in IIT syllabus reasoning test is not included as a regular teaching subject then how it can be given so importance in test for screening the students.
4. Already school education has been given enough weightage by setting up the criterion that one has to secure min. 60% marks in qualifying board examination to enter in IITs.
5. As the evaluation process in all boards/teachers/rural area/urban area may not be the same so 40% weightage to the board examination is unjustified. This will increase the copying practice/ corruption for giving marks for practical/project. This may also result in harassing the student by corrupt teachers.

ISEET EXAM
by umamaheswari on Feb 22, 2012 09:52 AM  | Hide replies

No doubt, it would certainly reduce the stress of the students as well as the parents, still there is one year to prepare for the exam, isnt it, only problem solving skill will not be enough for global placement, good English speaking is also required, So we welcome ISEET, thank you sibal

IN TERMS OF ONLY ONE EXAM ISEET IS WELCOME.BUT 40% WEIGHTAGE TO 12TH BOARD MARKS ARE NOT JUSTIFIED.BECAUSE I KNOW MANY STATE BOARDS GIVING MARKS TO THEIR STUDENTS LIKE FREE DISTRIBUTION OF MUD .

scrapping of JEE/AIEEE
by venu vasudevan on Feb 20, 2012 11:21 PM

It is very unfair to scrap JEE and AIEEE. The students who will pass out 12th standard in 2013 are in 11th standard now. This decision should have been taken atleast two years before the examination ie. before joining 11th standard. According to the present system, the children have chosen a particular board and started preparing for JEE/AIEEE. Taking such decisions at crucial point affects the mental condition of the children. Our hon. minister of education may give sufficient time for the students to think and take a proper decision. Hence even if the government wants to adopt the new system, it should be after 2013.

scrapping JEE and AIEEE and integrating them into a single exam is a very good option.i am asking iitian's aren't you THE STUDENTS who started preparing for IIT-JEE from 8th or9th standard in the name of IIT JEE coaching and sacrificising every thing ( including the power to think).now every body would laugh at me and ask "if we don't have reasoning skills how could we have entered into this prestegious institution?" then answer my question how many iitian's now have research skills in them and able to think beyond your syallabus? the answer is no with present day iitian's because we don't have any weightage for that so we are not going to concentrate on that. so what we can conclude is that present education is now a days business where profit and gain is only seen and no thing else. it's not that IIT JEE is worst examination it is a one of the best exams in the world but in tha sake of iit jee so many students are losing their talents and every thing. because in future we are not going to see any a.r.rehmann or sachin or saina nehwal because parents are forcing there child to go into iit if you don't through iit you are a waste guy. so IIT JEE pattern is not a problem here IIT JEE is itself is a problem i think so.

what about those people who have started studying iit from 11th and havent clear it in this year..they did not know about this system so they havent studied cbse..and have less chances to score good marks in cbse..so pattern should be changed in 2014...and it should be announced in may 2012...

Ignorant, incompetent or plain evil- which one art thou Kapil S?
by M Kataria on Feb 19, 2012 11:42 PM

There is a clear distinction between aptitude and subjet knowledge - prior has more weight towards natural talent while latter has weight towards training/practice/hard work. Making anything standardized works if the standards are held the same at each level in all places.
How can this brainiac (not) expect to use 2 marks when each board uses different methods to assign 2 marks to their students? It is much easier to score 90% in Tamilnadu than UP fore sure (and I am from RAJ myself but have friends who corroborate this fact). Won’t states vie to give easy scores to students to make their boards look better?

Furthermore, the decision of what a given institute wants from its future students, should be left with the institute itself- they know best what kind of students will be successful based on their institute’s demands, teaching methods etc. Why should this idiot get in the middle? He is not an IITian who has maintained the quality and prestige of IITs all over the world. They are doing good, so why change? Today IIT can manage their entrance because it happens at so few places... once you make the change suggested, how can someone guarantee that the same standards are maintained in exams?

When there is no guarantee of equal honesty in std. exam, equal methods to score in 2, equal control over centers etc. let IIT manage their own methods.

BTW - I am NOT from IIT (although desperately tried to get in but failed)
