are you serious????
by abc abc on Dec 27, 2012 02:55 PM  | Hide replies

comparing dickens and bhagat is like comparing marlon brando or al pacino or anthony hopkins to emran hashmi!! where hashmi has his share of followers, he simply doesn't have any class whatsoever.

Don't be so rude!

Hash-Me has artistic and liberal lineage!

His uncle is Mahesh Bhatt, a true crusader for women's liberation and sexual subjugation!

Chetan Bhagat

Comparing to the legendary writer Charles Dickens the so called author who wrote this piece make a mockery of himself. I have read both of them but to tell you frankly, Chetan is no where near the greatest novelist of all the time. Hence I think one should not make a comparison at all.

These Indian "authors" have to compare themselves to well-known authors to give context to their "style" of writing!

Pages in Chetan's books can be best used as toilet paper!

All Indian authors have to pay the Indian media to hawk the garbage they "write"!

High praise indeed. is it deserving?

I find this comparison, deeply offensive. I grew up on Dickens and I haven't read Bhagat. I shall wait till I read one of his before crutiquing into this comparison. But Ajith, please keep in mind that this is very very high praise. Pl. refrain from making these comparisons till you have read both well.

What's wrong with Balakrishnan
by Muktiprasad Banerjee on Dec 27, 2012 02:42 PM

The way I see it, one IIM guy patting the back of another. To ascribe Bhagat's widespread readership to literary talent is insane and comparisons with the social dynamics of Dickens' time a logical fallacy.
I used to look forward to Balakrishnan's columns. Now I want to ask him: Dude, what's wrong with you!

Unwarranted..inept & absurb comparison
by Madan S Prabhu on Dec 27, 2012 02:41 PM

Comparing somebody as mediocre as Chetan Bagat to the Master himself is a gravest of crimes committed in the literary world.
Its a mockery on the Indian literary community itself.
