Why you MUST visit India
by RamaPati Dubey on Aug 16, 2012 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

Congratulations Mr. Sood. You have described in nutshell the objects and objectives of coming to India. Why should anyone visit any place or country? The answer may be for leisure, for peace, for business, for understanding the culture of people, forlearning art, religion, helthcare, culture etc. There is opportunity and scope for everything.
The main factor is what you want and what is your approach to life and people. The colour of any object depends upon the colour of lenses you are wearing.

Suggest them to visit Allahabd during the period of coming Mahakumbh, for example. No invitations are issued to anybody, there is no advertising, no marketing, no pomp and show, but more than ten millions of people visit a small area between the sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna within a period of fifteen days or so. Ask people whay have they come, take a dip in the Sangam area where the water is barely waist-deep. They travel distances of even thousand kiometers, crave to stay in the defined and limited 'mela area' in the extreme winter, minmum temperture reaching 4-4.5 degrees celsius;they speak different languages, variuos dialect, wear different types of cloths and eat different varity of food. It is the typical example of diversity in Unity and unity in diversity. And then see the arrangements ffor shelter, drinking water, electricity, safety, transport, healthcare and what not. This presents case for event managers, a case for atheists and a case for administrators.

The Mahakumbh at Allahabad?

Yuck! I have seen it up close!

Went there after reading a piece written very creatively by a person obviously enamoured about it.

And Yuck! I couldn't believe till then that so much filth would be allowed to pile up in one place!

Great article of a country which is one of the richest in the world, one of the fastest growing economies and unique in itself. You appreciate the good things there when u step outside the country and see what you are missing - The great food, the great culture, the good people, the secular society, the heritage and general feeling of well being

Take a balanced view. See and appreciate the good things about our country but also don't sweep the bad ones under the carpet.

9. Filth...India is also one of the filthiest countries in the world. Dirtier than some poorer countries in Asia!

10. Crowds...not many places on earth can you see so many people on the streets at the same time

11. Rape in moving vehicles....no one else in the world except Delhi!

12. Only in India you will see grown up men urinating in public while talking on mobile phone.

13. Open air defecation, on the rail tracks, near the airports, cities, town and villages. The unchecked ever increasing population, as an appeasement of secular for moleems, means that I came with hope and left utterly despondent, disgusted and even ashamed of this place.

3. Total lack of civility, spitting in public, eateries next to stench and filth, lude remarks and even sticking ones private part on female by males in crowded buses is all too common, this behavior is passe with no public revulsion.

It is also good to teach Sri Lankan politicians about this - because it will be a NEWS to them. Every now and then they come to India begging for financial and military aid.

Everyone knows how the world in Srilanka is. If it were so rosy, I would not have seen Sinhala and Tamil Srilankan prostitutes in Dubai and Singapore - just like Indian and Pakistani origin ones.

As an Indian, I sincerely know that ANY South Asian making such remarks on ANY OTHER South Asian is basically pot calling kettle black.

Excellent write up. But what is this show off and high thinking stuff. Pure perception. Open and shyness fine, but value judgment inappropriate.

Check properly where shame has to be. You must be seeing dirt only or you don't know anything about Delhi.
