There is no substitute for COMMONSENSE.

Commonsense applications to problems have a far greater success percentage than applications of hyped up business models embroiled in complexities.

The so called great minds have no clues or even prefatory analysis to the Global problems; be it economic, social or cultural.

Author of the above : You would do well to cite the SINGULAR CONTRIBUTION of each of these institutions (in proportion to the stardom bestowed on them) in the TRANSFORMATION (if any) of INDIAN economic, social or cultural sphere. NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING ....

True, many of them go abroad; hold positions in big cabal(s); make themselves prosperous; mount the high horse(s); and add whatever you like.

Individuals from less well-known institutions fare better (overall) and contribute SIGNIFICANTLY to our NATIONAL GROWTH/PRODUCTIVITY better than these wiseacres. Their ideas - originating from commonsense - are less expensive. They are based on virtues of "SELF-RELIANCE;THRIFT;&INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY." They have the love of our NATION, and willingness to sacrifice for it. Those ideas made the strong nation that India has been. Their ideas are now SLIPPING away from our society because of the UNDUE GLORIFICATION of the wrong stream of consciousness.

You can learn from they teach at any MBA program by using GoogleBooks or going to a good library...the only contribution IIMs have had in India is to turn intelligent IIT Engineers into Detergent Salesmen (selling Surf, Tide and other cloth detergents). IIMS use use case studies written for Harvard Business School which are totally irrelevant to a third-world nation like India where 75% of people don't proper nutrition.

Yeah - but if you use GoogleBooks no one other than your father-in-law is going to give you a job!!

IIM Kozhikode: Fee is half than sighted
by Anuj Gupta on Sep 20, 2011 10:56 PM

The fee structure of IIM Kozhikode is Rs. 10 lakh for two years including room and boarding.
Tutuion Fee for two year is Rs. 4,80,000 which is a part of 10 lakhs only. I request the moderator to please verify and correct it.

institutes even top ones in US scam their students who then scam common people.

Ever wondered why you have to shell out thousands of dollars for MBA programs when MS/MD programs actually pay you.

Instead of paying 10-50 lacs it is better to start your own business. Just use some common sense (yes there really are too many stupid people out there).

What about IIPM? SRK is promoting it and they are even giving free laptops to all students. It should be the Number 1.

SRK can promote any brand really. As long as someone is ready to pay him ... It doesn't matter whether it is a Management School or an elite Shaadi

Some mistakes
by ritesh agarwal on Sep 20, 2011 09:44 PM

Rankings can change every year and often subjected to surveys. I think rediff should check the quality and facts of the articles. There are glaring mistakes in the fees, student intake etc.

If the intention of the article was only to grab attention then they are probably successful but if it about educating / informing young aspirants then the article is half baked.

In addition to giving rankings, the writer could have mentioned something about the ranking criteria. A more informative article could have talked about the specialty / differentiating factor of the leading B-Schools.

Mention of Chetan bhagat tells about quality of survey
by bikram b on Sep 20, 2011 09:34 PM

"Among its notable alumni includes best selling Indian author Chetan Bhagat". That tells what the surveyer really knows about B-schools. There are hundreds of IIMA alumni in top business and other positions. Couldn't the author find one credible name? We have seen Chetan bhagat's lack of ethics during the drama he did after 3 idiots release.

If you don't like reservations/affirmative action in govt/private sector, take your marks, merit, talent and caste/community share of land from India and build your own nation.

Reservation needs to be on affordability and status of income. NOT caste. It is impractical and loses its objective if a rich dumb guy gets in only 'coz he's an SC
