Nonsensical rating
by Vish on Sep 15, 2011 01:21 PM  | Hide replies

This rating makes no sense in a huge country like India with thousands of schools. Probably more of a mrketing gimmick. In fact if you see the lists of notable alumni, of some of the schools, most of them are children of well to do and well connected families. So them doing well in life has probably more to do with the families they were born into rather then the schools they attended.

exactly..on that count Navodya Vidyalays shd top the list as they admit students from rural area from poor families and make them succeed in education and other activities. every damn ranking thing is a marketing gimmick only.

Ridiculous List!!
by Kaushik Roy on Sep 15, 2011 01:15 PM

It would be good to provide the criteria based on which the schools were selected. I have been out of India for quite a while and am not in a position to comment on the list but just by the look of it I can smell a false propaganda. We expect Rediff to provide more authentic features than these.

by SABYASACHI MUKHERJEE on Sep 15, 2011 01:04 PM

how come no schools from kolkata feature here??most of the times the ICSE and ISC toppers are from Don Bosco, St. Xaviers, La Marts,..most of them are age old institutions producing quality alumnus over the past century....swanky plush buildings with a glossy outlook do not make a top quality school....this is ridiculous!!!!!!!!

None of the above mentioned schools produce CBSE toppers
by Ashwin Rath on Sep 15, 2011 12:55 PM

Ironical isnt it ?

And how come only the metros have the 'best' schools ? i am pretty sure this is a media biased study.

Some of the prominent names like Don Bosco, Timpany, Bhavans, Chinmaya etc are missing big time
