Nothing wrong
by Shyam Sunder on Oct 12, 2011 02:14 PM  | Hide replies

All HR people know pretty well howthe aspirants prepare themselves for the interview and/ or exams for employment. With repeated training they are fine tuned to face interviews fully hiding their real attitude towards society. Unless there is a third source of information for proper judgement, selection process would fail miserably. That is already happening with out IITs, IIMs, Civil Services, etc. When it comes to outside the interview room, people are outspoken and give out their minds in open. Facebook likes are some meeting points where we can know people for true. So there absolutely nothing wrong in HR people referring to such networkingsites and checking up their future employees. Otherwise what do you think a frustrated man hardly in 20s / 30s do good for his employer or the country?

Getting to know a person is good as long as you are broad-minded to understand and assimilate other's views as well. Holding a grudge based on misinterpretation of a FB post is unbelivably foolish. After all, why would anyone advertise their own mistakes? They write on their on wall, whatever they want to write. If they report company insider information, it is alright to take action. But not taking people based on talent but on blatant analysis of social media site is ridiculous!!!
