They are launching this model alomsot a year after US in the meantime far superior phones are available at more competitive prices/ I dont think we shud even consider this phone for the audacity of apple to think we will buy at end of shelf life product at a premium price. They will be announcing the 1 phone 5 in a month or two which me these are unsold pieces which they want to dump here
After a year IPhone 4 is launched in India and i think all the handsets would old version and the dump ones. Now nokia has colabration with Microsoft, so nokia would be launching their windows phones in market very soon. Windows Nokia would be a good option..
In the times when mobile technology changes everyday, Apple launch this phone one year after it is launched in the US. This proves that they want to dump the unsold, poor quality items in India. I am sure they are coming out with a newer version soon in the USA. India is a dumping ground for them for the unsold old version items.
The only difference from previous versions is the speed which is twice as fast BUT.. any Android phone these days easily surpasses iphone4. it weighs a ton

Are you saying it costs $299 (about Rs.14000) for an unlocked iphone-4 16GB in the U.S.?? Where can you purchase it in the U.S. for that price? I would like to get one through a friend who's coming to India. Thx.

$299 price is for an iphone locked to either ATT or Verizon. Unlocked ones cost upwards of $600 which is the same price that Aircel is charging in India. Illegal unlocking of iPhone has its own issues such as problems while installing/upgrading apps, I am told.
