IAS topper: 'Without hard work nothing is possible'

In continuation to my post below..- These aspirants/civil servants if they say that they like the power thats in the all india services, then I can clearly say they are not working for society, cause a good and clear minded person does not say or see it as "POWER" and rather he sees and says it as "necessary tools and guidance" for carrying out actual job/rendering actual service to citizen. Its only in the context of misuse that a candidate/civil servant says "I like the power given to and IAS/all india services cadre". Any country in the world if considered as strong lineage in society building coming from the "SPECIALIST" and the "Generalists" are just treated either equal or a step below. Take example of JAPAN that has raisen from ASHES to the richest country, only cause of the absence of such hierarchy in society and importance for techincal manpower. Same is with EUROPE or even US EXCEPT FOR THE BRITISH. These britishers were the ones who lived on others resources fooling others and reaping benefits on those. they needed such heirarchy. Any technical innovations in the world has been given by the Germans, these innovations have been running the economy, be it AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY or CHEMICAL INDUSTRY. The benefits have been shown asthough the GENERALISTS (like the bureaucrats and the MBA's) have been creating the innovations. For me a wildlif

I or we have definitely respect and praise the toppers for the effort they have put in. As long as the services go, its more of a regulatory job/law enforcing job than about creating/adding value to the GDP. Its a clerical job which deserves respect just and as equally like a specialist job that actually adds value to the GDP of the country. Even in scientific terms, without talking of GDP, a job into wildlife lesson capturing in forests would be of greatest value to Human beings, to learn about nature, and do minimal destruction to planet and eco-systems while continuing civilization. We in India have been living on legacies of what Britishers have left behind. One being Cricket (which is lesser sport and a greater expensive leisure compared to football) and BUREAUCRACY. I am not among those who say that the "GRAPES ARE SOUR", but the fact is bureaucracy is just like any other job. If a candidate or a Civil servant says that he joined for the "sheer power in job and willingness to work for the supressed/society" its just some crap reason or immature reason to say. they are lot of ways to contribute to society. These services are just being glorified unneccessarily. For me and Enginnering job (if its true to the profession) is more of importance than a clerical job like this one. Since Indian politicians are less educated, these bureaucrats enjoy lot in terms of fooling the system. Not in the true spirit that the aspirants/c

WHY CIVIL SERVICES
by rajeev parashar on May 26, 2011 06:17 PM

It is clearly an Input / Output advantage which motivates the tens of thousands to work hard for 4 or 5 years or 2 years at least to get into these services. Because once you get in any service you live peacefully and secure all through your life. You are never penalized in any manner for being derelict or lazy or careless or for mis judgement due to lack of even cursory application. Whats more, your rank and status will steadily rise as years go by and then you have secure health care, pension and other benefits after retirement. In addition to all this is the opportunity to make huge sums of money at zero risk. Guys if we indeed have such a large number of hard working deshbhakts then why does our army suffer from an Officer shortage? We must realize the motivations of these worthies and alter our governance, hiring and promotion systems otherwise huge huge sums of money esp after the 6th Pay commission are simply going down the drain and burdening the common man, including the poorest of the poor.

The truth is some what wavy .....

with reference to what "saheb naqori" said ,i would disagree to what reasons he gave for selection in such high esteemed services , what he is telling is the thinking of a person who is personally self inflicted with the binding thought of corruption , he is unwilling to accept that its the hard labor that pays and not bribe.
As far is UP and bihar are concerned its only a fraction of criminals that reside here ,else it is widespread throughout the country ,
looking at the IAS toppers of last and this year you would see that most of them don't belong to a class of politicians,...
as far as motivation is concerned , yes they are motivated to prove their mettle in society and to improve it , as far as service towards people is concerned then you should look at Mr.Navneet Sehgal , Mr. Navneet Sikera ,these are names of just two men who belong to the guild he was talking about , if u don't know abt them then find out.
Responsibilities aren't levied upon a person , its your choice to either take them as an addon or to earn them as these people do by clearing IAS.

Truth about IPS, IPS, IFS.......
by Saheb Nagori on May 25, 2011 11:59 AM  | Hide replies

For high probability of getting selected, you have to be :

01. From criminally infected states of UP or Bihar
02. Related to a politician or a bureaucrat
03. Motivated to earn money in unlawful manner
04. Ready to surrender self respect in front of superiors and politicians in power
05. Cruel enough to run down the socially oppressed

Show me a guild of officers who network, unite and collectively fight for social justice and against political irregularities. They can do it. But because of the above 5 reasons they don't.

Sting
by Opinion Raj on May 25, 2011 08:53 AM

I am also planning a sting operation against these so called toppers, what do you think rediffians. These so called future of our country after they get through, start advertising with coaching institutes and competitive magazines stating that they joined them and prepared for them. This is what UPSC selects, before joining the service only corruption starts. My class mate who i have mentioned below has already lent his name to countless coaching institutes. I feel sad for the new comers who fall prey to these fake ads and end up paying dearly for substandard coaching
