Sting
by Opinion Raj on May 25, 2011 08:53 AM

I am also planning a sting operation against these so called toppers, what do you think rediffians. These so called future of our country after they get through, start advertising with coaching institutes and competitive magazines stating that they joined them and prepared for them. This is what UPSC selects, before joining the service only corruption starts. My class mate who i have mentioned below has already lent his name to countless coaching institutes. I feel sad for the new comers who fall prey to these fake ads and end up paying dearly for substandard coaching

My experience - Did not clear interview
by Opinion Raj on May 25, 2011 08:51 AM

Dear Friends, Nitin below has made a valid point and i think only the person who falls knows where the pits are.

I speak here with honesty and no malicious intent.

UPSC does not need hard work to clear,it needs plain old luck, it is as flawed a system as our social sector programmes, high on intentions and low on execution.I hope to bring out the truth in front of fellow rediff readers.

1. My friend was with my in a very prestigious coaching institute for one of the subjects in the civil services(not vajiram im not talking of GS) our sir who has 28 years of teaching experience was appalled with his clarity in understanding,he was a literature guy.
I remember clearly one day sir going totally mad with this guy and giving him a piece of his mind saying that this way he would not even make it across, our candidate was least bothered as he was busy preparing for something else and thought he would give an attempt only next year(proper one). His interview was horrible, he said that one section of our population are terrorists and should be dealt with an iron hand, the interviewrs were not impressed and told him to leave the hall. Today he is in the Top 10 ranking.

Funny part is our common friend who is close to him tried calling him to congratulate him, this guy always called him when his interview went bad for moral support. Today when my friend tried calling him, he does not recieve the phone, just SMS's back sorry im busy.

All those who make it IAS final list are ideal for all those aspiring for this coverted exam. Almost all coaching centres are willing to the associate themselves with names of successful candidates to make them commercially viable.

Today IAS needs to work in a different scenario. Nation is passing through that phase where commercialization and consumerism is getting stronger vis-a-vis the control of the government on several vital issues. Bureaucracy needs to device the ways to smooth this friction where the welfare of the masses and honest tax-payers is kept on the top-priority.

Those who should have ultiamte powers to Govern the country should be these officers and not roadies politicians. The whole political system should be replaced with merit based IAS examination and selection system. SOUNDS UNREALISTIC!!!!
NA!!!!!!!
