We in India adapt English to our needs.

There is nothing wrong in doing that as English is properly r a p e d in all English speaking countries by the local people to suit their style.

Even a majority of British people don't speak it like they are supposed to.

The tips mentioned in the article should be only followed in case of formal communications.

Well said. To add to that, most of Europians do not speak English. Americans have their own version of English. Even within America, folks from different states speak different flavor of English (no, not the accent).
Author's futile attempt at mocking Indians is just that. A futile attempt. Provides some laughter, though.

Seriously? Well, then you should try and mingle with other Indians outside of your asylum. You will be ashamed of your gross generalization.

Top 18 English mistakes desis make
by Ranjit Ballal on Jul 21, 2011 08:22 AM  | Hide replies

The title itself is incorrect. It should be "18 common mistakes in English, desis make" One most common mistake that was ommitted was: I met one of my friend, I like one of the dress, We played one of the card game etc. It should be one of the friends, dresses, games (i.e plural).

Ranjit Ballal:

Given that the Rediff creative title writer has normally nothing to do with the actual article that's published on the forum, I definitely agree that he should benefit from the author's English teaching experience!! :)

Why do you call the writer a bird-brained and thereby insult the birds? Birds are smart and intelligent. Just call the writer a dumb human.

;-)... Wow... a creative Rediff headline makes a writer bird-brained??

Where in the article did you read the word "Desi"?? :)

And just FYI, look up in the English dictionary words like Gheraoed, Juggernaut etc. which have become official English in today's age! :)
