Why do we Indians are obsessed with top colleges? These colleges are taking only meritorious and not someone who is meediocre and average student. Then where is there credibility? Someone who is already a meritorious, does not require the services of top colleges, he / she can perform in any college and pass out with top rankings. If these so called top rank colleges admit meicore and average students and mould them into top class performer then I think there lies the credibility and reputation of the college otheriwise it is a crap just like any other middle level colleges.
I completely oppose OBC quota system due to this we have to face illiterate, uneducated officials in govt just like UP Chief Minister Mayawati abuse system for their own benefits. They easily get the higher position on the name of backward class where other intellectual top students struggle. We need to abolish this system. This is the one cause of corruption.
Why cant we have fair open policy where everybody has right to study, employed depend on their skills regardless of any caste/religion.

Reservation is alms ,dhan ,answer to begging in white collar way .Enough is enough we had reservation for 60 years - that too in a democratic ,independent Country in 21 century . Do not give sob stories they have been exploited for thousands of years -who exploited them the congress leaders ,rich land lords ,not a common middle class man . If people want reservation today they are AH. After Indepandance it is their own people who are exploiting . Grow up and stop this form of looting .No reservation for any - people who are economically backward give free food ,clothing, shelter and no fee ,free books even condoms but let them come by merit. This is down right shit called reservation.

quota system in india has been the bane of our society. In the guise of uplifting the socially downtrodden, this system has threatened to uproot our social fabric.these kind of system promote quantitative growth rather than qualitative.with the world countries are striving for better quality, here we are creating army of unskilled people.even after 6 decades of independence we could not be able to abridge the gap between people based on castes, creed, religion or poverty then it is real shame.A system where there is no respect for merit falls soon.so the onus is on us,indians to elevate ourselves from this caste divide and give equal respect to all.

I too oppose any kind of reservation system. But, when there was no reservation. The educated were arrogant towards remaining people. Those people neither had money nor education to face the rich, educated and influential upper class.
The best thing that could have happened was that these so called upper castes realised the importance every one as human beings and displayed it in the day to day life. But the oppression kept continuing.
As an educated if you are unable to face a lesser intellect as a govt. official. Imagine the situation of an uneducated person in front of intellegent and arrogant govt. official.

Reservation is divine justice for centuries of atrocities wreaked by Brahmin and b a n i y a people on the people belonging to lower castes!
Gandhi's lame attempt at giving them colourful epithets like 'harijan' was nothing more than an attempt to come to terms with the guilt of what his own b a n i y a community did to the lower castes in cahoots with the Brahmins!

Dear Anuj,
Please read about the Gandhi before posting your views. Today, the society has forgot the values what he has given to us. He was the person who strengthed and uplifted the Dalits and other down trodden people in views of upper caste and breaking the cult.
Today Dalits and other down trodden people have societies which is more active in creating a picture that Ambedkar is above Gandhi than helping thier communities in villages. I participate in these debates and have a good social service record.
Ambedkar really needs to be appreciated for bring researvation and i truely support it. But his visionary was not to make reservation as a tool to abuse the powers vested. Go to any village 50 KMS away from cities, you still find down trodden people who still do not know whether they come under any category. But a reserved city slick right from his schooling is fully aware of his society, his rights. It takes 5000-15000rs to talsidar to come under reserved category.
This system is getting raped by affluent reserved community people and other influencial people who are betraying the actual deserving people in villages.
My dear sir, this pseudo attitude (like yours)of so called Intellectuals and the persons in power has created the dissent, dissatisfaction and a feeling of helplessness in the country's youth as well as all parents who do not have a parallel source of income or powerful clout to render help. If you are so truthful, why don't you oppose capitation colleges and advertisement of Education. I still remember that a lady who preaches like this gentlemen above, got her daughter admitted in a prestigious professional college through North East Quota. Why should a country harping on Equality need reservation 64 years on. If at all you genuinely feel the need for it give it for education up to 12th and thereafter, let the individual compete on merit--- alright you could reimburse or even provide free education, thereafter, but why shouldn't the individual be allowed to prove his merit. Moreover, why should there be reservation at job entry level and thereafter for every promotion, that too when that particular individual has several influential member both by rank as well as financially at every level. Mr. Dhananjay Dhurandhar, please understand that no student is really bothered about the caste or origin of his/her batch partner in college, but it is more important that they are able to think similarly. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SUCH WRITING JUST TO PROMOTE YOURSELF AND PLEASE THINK OF THE FUTURE OF INDIA.
Re: 100% cut-offs: Why this outrage
by Rahuldravid Backstabber on Jul 07, 2011 11:06 AM
Dear Kaushal, why are you worried of naming Kiran Bedi, the person you talked of. These kind of persons should be exposed; people have a short memory and these people sport a holier-than-thou attitude now.
What is the author trying to say? That 100% cut-off is OK because now even the underprivileged get admissions whereas it was denied to them earlier. This is silly. Assuming that the cut-offs were lower last year and the admission was on merit, the same underprivileged class would have got admission in any case.
The only way to stop this mad rush for percentages where differences go down to one-hundredth of a percentage, is to award grades like CBSE does for Class X students.
The author lacks to address the social inequality claim and what compels General quota candidates to becoms dalits to get admissions. This is reverse conversion and this is high time Shikandi Singh and the gross party woke up. What India are we creating wherein rich people who change their titles to attend social gatherings and write it surely in admission criteria are paving way for undercutting merit. What standards of professionals are coming out from the medical and engineering colleges will turn to bite us in not a long term future. Till that time Dhurandar can stay inhis 'overpriced' accomodation and write such crap.
