Useless
by ghanshyam prajapat on Sep 08, 2010 02:14 PM  | Hide replies

Useless article, actually this servey was meant for US people, and 75k US$ is what most US households needs for their basic needs to not be troubled with regular money related issues and hence leads to happiness, but converting it to Indian rupees is wrong since, 36L is a huge amount and very few earns that much. But that doesn't mean, to be happy one needs 36L. Basic household needs can be met with much lower than this...

I agree. I would be happy with 50000 rupees a month if I had no debt.
It is 36 L per annum or 36 Lakh per month?

36 lakhs per month
by Vidhya Srinivasan on Sep 08, 2010 02:06 PM  | Hide replies

I am in the teaching profession for the last 28 years with a PHD and a law degree in my belt. I earn 9 lakhs today while I earned only 700 rs pm when I started my career I have always been happy with my job in spite of my students earning ten times my salary So Happiness has nothing to do with money. Of course you need to have enough money for the basic needs but if we start chasing money it will lead to unhappiness.

It depends on individual perception as to how they are looking at money.
I earn 6-7 times less that my frnds do( even though I cma capable of ).. but when it comes work satisfaction.. I can proudly say that yes I am satisfied, where most of my frnds fail to say.

For ur age, that too in India with ur stated salary,I dont think u still NEED more happiness...But there r people who may be earning more than u BUT living in a costly city, engaged in more STRESSFUL job than ur teaching profession, away from ones dear parents & close ones...R NOT happy with their salary, they indeed need MORE...

THINGS MAY BRING COMFORT, NOT HAPPINESS. It is a state of MIND,not completely related with material. Many Very Very rich people found themselves so empty that they ended their life by committing suicide.
