"
Tell us your story of triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds"

this is a true story..when i was in college..

i went to watch movie "Ram-jane" starring king Shahrukh khan.the movie was so pathetic that i was loosing my senses ,loosing my nerves. my whole body was getting numb out of anger, frustration and i prayed god that 'save me'..

and then god helped me..

he told mother nature to help me .. nature call came to me.. i was forced to out side and then didnot came back..

god really saved me that day..

The Chilean miners won a life battle: Have you?

What a stupid question!

Does this mean that we should get ourselves trapped in a mine to prove that we can win a life battle?

Looks like Rediff staff is feeling disappointed that this incident did not occur in India, if it had, they could cover it and use it on their resume (as covering an international news incident) to crawl out of what they consider to be punitive assignment - working in India!

Mind boggling rescue ,Team work and heroic epic

The Chilean rescue ,the men who were victims and rescue teams make a movie more epic than Titanic and Gone with the wind .Lessons in leadership, management, medical feat, heroism,Technology ,Nasa all bought together for a mission achieved successfully. If India had a president like Sebatian Pinera where would India be .Just so humble ,unassuming helpful focussed for his people ,loving the poor miners and accomplishing the impossible.Faith hope love and trust in his eyes for his brave 33 miners ,a management lesson which can never be learnt from any books, example of true spirit of human endeavor a fight to save lives of ordinary people.Long live Chile and all Chileans.

Ask Rediff to replace the Chile Govt here with our GOI, you will get the answer w/o wasting time.Congrats to the Govt of Chile. They have shown that they care for their citizens. It happens only where there is a will & the miners, Engineers & GOC (the Govt of Chile) has shown to the entire world.
Hats of to the peoples of Chile. I feel that i would be the citizen of this brave country.

Finally, God helps those who helps themselves.

When a pilot takes timely action to save a possible plane crash, he has saved hundreds of lives! What about the Bhopal station master who prevented a train coming into gas affected region and who himself died? An extremely
noble man!!

yes friend you are hundred percent right.bhopal station master was really a very very couragious person who sacrificed his life for his duty thereby saving hundreds of life.

There are few people here who, without any apparent reason are blaming indians and government of india imagining some hypothetical situations.but i have thousands of stories of indians who have sacrificed their lives during the saving the lives of the other people who are neither their friends nor belonged to their family.

pilot officer shaifali chaudhury, calcutta traffic police sergeant bapi dutta, railway gateman hira lal,the 54 year old asst.sub inspector of delhi police ( very very sorry i forgot the name )who jumped before a speeding train to save the life of few children and many more like him are also there in india.i am sure that if,god forbid, india faces a crisis like chile,we will also be able to give a fitting reply to that crisis and will be able to handle it as per the suitability.

i also cogratulate the chilean government to go all out to save the lives of the miners.i also wish a very long and peaceful future life to all the affected persons and their families.

CHILE MINER RESCUE
by sampath iyer on Oct 15, 2010 10:14 AM  | Hide replies

Congratulations to the mining engineers and technologists.

Public memory is short lived. Bofore criticising our government and facilities, dont forget that we have also done a better rescue operation in Mahaveer Coal Mines in India (owned by Coal India Ltd), more than 20 years ago. Then we had rescued more than 50 miners trapped more than 100 feet below ground, by drilling to the underground and inserting a capsule, fabricated for the purpose.

Our engineers and technologists are equally good if not superior. We have done this with lesser technologies, two decades ago.
