Is Father's day relevant in India

One day to remember your father only in one year!! It is unIndian. You are supposed to take care of your father throughout his life, 24/7 days a week. Youth in India have lost their independence of thinking and acting. They are blindly copying like monkeys anything western particularly in US-thinking that by following their slavery they will attract their closeness, not knowing that only slaves follow their masters to that extent. By following irrelevant and stupid western traditions, that are meant for their social structure, they will not become western, nor will be considered cultured. In fact they are inviting contempt in western circles whom they ape by sacrificing their own roots. Shame on Indians who ape the west to show themselves as cultured!! They have lost their independence of mind and pride in themselves and their roots. Such rootless monkeys will be be treated with contempt they deserve.

In the west particularly US Father's day is reqd to be celebrated bcoz after the age of 18 father and children get apart ,children have to fend for themselves. This day can be some sort of reunion at least for a day.In India our values are different and we should ignore the socalled father's day

The WesternCulture has swept on usalbeit in a miniscular but significant way. Thismis evident rom the spurting old age homes and erutioon of nu lear familities in the metros.
Traditionally also, the father of the house has always remained in the shadows like the gfods we worship. it had always een the mother who used to be the go between.
Nonetheless, a father was akin to god while motheris onevery close to heart and hearth.

Westerners trying to teach Father's day
by Kalyan Vemishetty on Jun 16, 2010 08:49 PM

Indian culture is built upon Vedas. We say Pithru devo bhava. It is said in our scriptures, one should touch the feet of their parents once you wake up in the morning. If you are away from parents, offer namaskar to their photo.

Prayer means gratitude. We pray to our parents everyday atleast in our heart, if not we become ingrateful. Such is our heritage....How can we shake off our hands by celebrating one day. We bond with our parents everyday. That being said...Father's day should be reminder for everyone if sway away from our path.

Fathers' day &mother's day

If one needs a special day to remember them, then one is not worth his name...after all you carry your family name which should be a constant reminder of your parents. All these special days are the creation of market forces to sell gifts and cards and what not.

Celebrate days we forget
by fdfdfdd fdfdf on Jun 15, 2010 04:39 PM

Generally we celebrate the days which we might forget i.e birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Father & Mother are such a great creation where every second we have to celebrate or glorify . No need for a special day.
