rediff doing very well in advertising indian tourism business
by Devdutt Sen on Jun 03, 2010 05:44 PM  | Hide replies

i have always been saying that rediff is anti-national because it canonizes all anti national people and publishes their views e.g arundhati roy is on rediff center stage always and even on it today.
now i find they are trying to damage indian tourism business too. please some sane thinking government official or someone from the judiciary please order a probe into rediff's shareholding pattern. certainly someone special is playing a role

UK also is very dirty & unsafe - especially London
by jaggu on Jun 03, 2010 05:32 PM  | Hide replies

UK hotels are very dirty and often even in 4 star priced & rated hotels strange idea like common toilet is visible.

At prominent locations in London you see Arabs and Africans selling CDs of vicious propaganda - which is completely tolerated as freedom.

I had been in American hotels. If you select the so called budget hotels, which range a price around $39 tax (around Rs.1800), they are not only dirty but smell with fungus. They do not have proper heater in extreme winter. No one goes and evaluate these hotels. And there are hotels in Amsterdam or Copenhagen which are nothing but dirty for those business for few hours. No one cares about this. Yes, in India, there are quite a number of hotels in this category and nothing great.

India has perhaps most dirty trains too. Seats never are wiped. bogeys never get cleaned inside / outside. cockroaches aplenty. Even mice taking free journey. Travellers themselves make it dirty. What to do.

With Mamata staying in Waste Bengal, it is not going to get better.

Soon, the middle class person will not be able to go by train due to the filth in our stations, trains and toilets there.

Mamata-Didi should be locked up in a Bihar train toilet for 2 months.

by Anniyan Dharma on Jun 03, 2010 05:29 PM

Well, if you stayed in a Motel 6 in US there is a high chance u end up with bed bugs, or get shot.

However, Indians are known for not needing restrooms and sinks and toilets. It has got to
such a stage that a clean toilet in India is a luxury......and thats a fact.

Don't you have any positive things about India?
by A Rajendran on Jun 03, 2010 05:24 PM  | Hide replies

Not a day passes without Rediff publishing some story which portrays India and Indians in poor light. One need not be jingoistic and write glowingly about ourselves, but then one needn't descend to the depths of the gutter to write about the negative things here.

Not a day passes without such stories or about the " miracle " of China. I wonder about Rediff's agenda. Sometime back, Rediff carried a series of articles on ordinary people who made a difference to others' lives and about those who rose from the depths of poverty to become rich and famous. Sadly, all this seems to be a thing of the past and Rediff is back peddling the negative stories designed to make Indians feel negative about themselves and their country.

Surveys are being conducted about a variety of subjects all round the year and Rediff had to go and dig out what someone has written on some obscure survey.

And we wonder why India doesn't seem to be moving forward.

Dont blame rediff, blame the Indian mindset which is never ready to accept its mistake and to correct itself just like you are doing.

I do not know if you are an Indian or not and if you are, then I can only pity you. In no other country the people have so much of negative feelings about themselves and it is because of rotten media coverage like this one. The real Indian mindset is yours which is ready to swallow the worst of stories about ourselves and berate ourselves at every possible opportunity. If you look at today's news, you will find that Rediff has carried other similar stories. All I am asking is that there are so many people and organizations that work to make a difference. Is it not worth publishing ?

May be Rediff knows that only such negative stories have readership value because there are people like you to read and then rant about how bad they are.

If somebody doesn't find anything positive about India, then the problem is probably he is unable to get any chance to go abroad so he sits here and gripes and complains about everything. Just remember, no one is begging you to stay back.

If we dont point out our society's shortcomings, how will we improve?

After all rediff is not lying or even exaggerating the situation, what they report is also truth of India.

Ur right, they can only correct if they acknowledge their mistake.

Look at West Bengal. They have been in self denial for 35 years and have deteriorated to waste.

That is why most of Bombay is like a slum, and folks dont care living in that filth.

With all new immigrants coming in for day labour, how can they afford anything more than a slum in Bombay. they are not all IT folks or doctors moving in....
