....hardly inspiring

....DAV Gopalapuram is a getto for the nerds..the students are the always the brightest and getting a 90% is almost a given...THIS is hardly what an average child is looking for as motivation.....Rediff must look for stories of students who have doen well in life after getting a 60-65% in their boards....that wou;d be what would inspire children to realiose that success and marks dont neccessarliy have a corelation...

Yes I agree with Ravi, our media should publisize the sucess story of people who has done godd in there life inspite of avarage academic record. Our hole socity is behind the number game which is not a sign of healthy socity.

Agree but 60-65% u got to struggle & achieve everything on your own unless u have a God father but 90% above ur absorbed directly by corporate from college.Atleast in India with population explosion/poverty & no govt willing to do anything about this u got to be in the rat race son otherwise simply emigrate where 60-65% are welcome..cheers

Ofcourse! given a choice no one would want to get 65% .But as you say the real go-getters are the ones who despite of these shortcomings do well, which makes more sense to me atleast! i scored just 85% in my XII board exams(a relative failure as compared to my peers) but when I look back the ones who were expected to shine well in life with 95% marks are'nt doing all that great when you benchmark money as a yardstick to measure success!

It is not a good thing to portray these students
by venki on Jan 22, 2010 09:03 AM

Even I too got 97.5% in my 12th board exams. And i am having an average of 92% in my engineering degree. This is not a good thing to portray a students success, there are many more students in country who have achieved this feat.Do not measure a person\'s ability by his marks. Those who score high marks in 2 might fail in their engineering course, there are those who got avg marks in 2 but became very good industrialist.Give an example of those who are like this

you are right also many more students who don't get support from parents and teachers, learning and getting marks is a process.Marks should not be matter of one's intelligence.getting marks and degree and earning money is not what everyone doing,I think intelligence is where you do extraordinary things for betterment of our country's people and society.

by sankha devbarman on Jan 22, 2010 08:58 AM

DESPITE THE SO CALLED DREAM MARKS IN THE BOARDS EXAMINATION-MOST OF THE YOUNGSTERS GET FADE AWAY LATER ON. ACTUALLY IN PRESENT EDUCATION SYSTEM HARDLY THERE IS ANY SCOPE FOR REAL TALENT TO GROW.ORIGINALITY SHOULD BE ENCOURAGED IN OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM FOR THE SAKE OUR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS.

You have done good... but I don't want to be...
by Parveen Gupta on Jan 22, 2010 08:57 AM

Good Akhilesh, your hardwork paying off... keep up... All the best.

Sometimes I wonder, should I push my kid to compete with kids like Akhilesh. No I don't want them to compete in this way. I am okay as long as they could understand their subject, excel in the subject they like and score averagely good marks, good enough to fulfil their dreams...
