Reality check..
by khool on Feb 28, 2010 09:12 AM  | Hide replies

Only if people with IIT/IIM tag were ready to join Infosys...
Infy can play hard to get only during recessions..in a 'normal' environment the glamorized body shoppers get the last slot(
if at all..) at IIT/IIMs..

On second thoughts...I was wondering why Mr. Pai stops at IIT/IIM...the heading should have been.."We don't blindly pick people for their MIT/HBS tag"

IITan only had made things possible for Infy!
by Mohan T on Feb 28, 2010 09:00 AM  | Hide replies

During 1990's most of IITians joined infy TCS and made the Dream of india possible to become Top. The quality of Work and Job work are far superior then. Now he is the looser as all IT companies wants revenues to go up by taking large numbers. Seeing the quality of IT coming down IITan doesnt choose it as a TOp proffession.

These 50% sub-standard ones are the ones who come thru 50% reservations that prevail in these colleges.

Whether its Pai or Murthy, they have made huge money by body shopping their employess. Despite sitting on huge cash pile, they have not invested money on innovation. Is there any Made in India product? My view is that talented people should not join these companies. Its a waste of talents. These companies are doing greater damage to our country in the long run. By building huge campuses surrounded by massive golf courses would not help the economy.

They have offered software jobs to lakhs of people. Lakhs of families are living respectably because of them. They are over 1 and half lakh employees in Infosys alone. They make their company work and improve India's economy. Just look at India's economy before and after the software revolution.
Just because some interview-rejected-candidates protest, they don't shut their companies and listen to u. Got it ??

Manish(I am sure you are sindhi), you should be thankful to Amrika and western countries that are outsourcing jobs so lakhs like u are getting a job and happy and contented with the 5 lakhs starter salary without knowing how people like Pai and Murthy make billions by body shopping employess who basically do a copy/paste job. Once the west stops outsourcing, these companies will start downsizing which we have seen in the past. And then what??? u wont get a job coz most of the time u spent time on BENCH??? Right. Now thats a waste of talent. You probably dont understand my point,no wonder ur in IT.

Mr.Singh, I am no sindhi, I am from south India.
I think I am satisfied by my salary and my work in Infosys. Do I need to care if Pai or Murthy is making millions or billions....why should I cry like you ???
And don't talk like America is using us. Actually, we are using it. Without IT, you wouldn't have been sitting in your room and writing crap.

And it would be a mistake if I discuss software with a person who thinks software is just a copy/paste job. Pathetic !!
no wonder you are not in IT !!
hehe

Mr. Manish..even agriculture employs a lot of people...and it is a perfectly respectable job..no qualms..
But it would be absurd if a 'Zamindar' says..."We don't blindly pick people for their IIT/IIM tag"

the whole bloody point is, such companies promote mediocrity. I don't doubt that they have provided jobs to many. But how many of you are really doing the job? I believe thr was a huge strength on bench. Even in projects infy-dans don't work upto thr potentials. No doubt they earn less because they don't cash thr potentials. But the whole point is, the concentration of management in on quantity rather than quality. On mediocrity of 1000s rather than brilliancy of 10s.

U believe thr was a huge strength ??
So u are talking since u believe something and don't exactly know something !!
I'd prefer talking to someone who knows than who believes !

Infy trying to create place in minds of non-IIT/non-IIM people
by gurpreet on Feb 27, 2010 10:03 PM

Infy knows it has little chances of hiring from iit/iim and doesn't want the world to know. So it is glorifying other colleges.

ha ha
That's true for all IT firms.
But one thing is, we find all IT firms paying peanuts, but they don't have any scarcity of manpower (whether monkeys or intellects).
Actually, we need to increase the employment opportunities, to give options to people which they don't have now
