For students qualifying via entrance test know their path of getting or selecting the B-school after qualifying the tests. For rest "yes" the question of B-school selection is an issue and offcourse u do MBA or PGP or PGPM for adding an accademic degree for better job prospects and better future. Colleges claim big. But past history can be seen of success besides ratings by leading agencies and the facilties provided by the college. Very important is good accademic faculties and activities college undertakes for overall development of MT's along with placement companies it holds relations and has placed students in. The industry interface of college is important in this regards. When you are choosing a career and leadership development oriented managment course by GD/PI slection of college outrightly refusing to join college which is easy to enter is thought prevoking but check on parameters I have advised above. Visit those selected colleges talk to students studying and the managment their of facilities u get the est litmus test and a support for your decision. see my friend....pls take MBA as a course to study not as placement or industry inteface...no matter u do MBA from Street colleges or Big Schools it the same...I have also seen many students are passed out from colleges which are street colleges and are earning 11 lacs a years...and many students who are passed out from Big MBA schools and getting 2 lacs a years....so no matter...just study,,,acquire knowlege and take this MBA as course to study not for placement....and stop comapring between B schools as all of them are same

while the points that you have mentioned are certainly valid, your posting is replete with spelling and grammatical mistakes. given that rediff does an online spell-check, I do not know how you let that pass. if the typographical mistakes are due to lack of practice, it is fine. if they are not, I would think that as a Director of a group of educational institutions, you should have exercised sufficient care in your writing. No offence meant, though !

Agree with your point. But I have never experienced rediff message board correcting the spellings. And coming to spelling mistakes of Mr. Ravindra Gupta, there are at least couple of words that are incorrectly spelt twice (each) viz., accademic & managment and both the times same mistake is made, which goes on to show that it is probably more due to lack of knowledge of the correct spelling than a typo

I agree with this.Sixty years ago, many people joined in some job or other after their school final exams.( SSLC)99% of them retired as either director or of similar positions.They used their intelligence to come up in their job.So, MBA or any other qualification is only to prove academic excellence and glamorous only. I know many MBAs / MCAs rotting without jobs.There is nothing to beat human intelligence.USE it to attain the the Zenith. Sivaproactive

I Completely agreeeee.........I know many of them who don't have MBA & they are good manager & Industrialists...They have gain this by their experiences & not by MBA....
Ur point mentioned in the article makes no sense, "If you find that most of the companies mentioned in the list have only "selected" trainees for free, then the B-school's placement record and integrity are both suspect. You probably should not join such a B-school." Every one knows this but HOW?. It would hav been more help full if u had mentioned how instead of what.
