Kissa H.R.D Ka.... White Elephant .....
by srinivasa murthy on Aug 27, 2010 10:59 AM

In my personal capacity as an Founder:CEO of an Travel adventure co have been interacting with lot's of so called 'Biggie's who @ the drop of a hat talk-shop (read high-tech Mumbo-Jumbo)but would shut their 'Trap' if you were to suggest solid 'Experiential Training' modules....most of them consider HR as something where routine files are pushed & more important Kow-Tow the dictates of Person/s immediately above..... Surprisingly one 'High-Flying' VP (like this guy above)told me privately that management won't consider experiential trainings since it was not easy to evaluate 'Value-Addition' & more important budgets were meant more for picnics & leisure.... Not one of them HR Goons have the guts to stand-up & take initiative which they 'Preach' to everyone....Basically have felt that HRD is a highly 'Glorified' clerk-ship infested by few Rats out to score 'Brownie'points....

Iv attended a huge number of interviews with many biggies in bangalore and pune and got kicked out in the HR round because they didnt have enough money to pay me. I wonder what was the need for going through the gruelling 2 hour grilling by some seasoned interviewer and then being told we are too poor to pay you. I mean they are not really poor, just that my pay was already high at the level they are hiring and more would mean disparity within their organization. So apart from the six skills mentioned here, please be sure that the raise you expect aint comin until there is a desperate need for them to hire you.

Recruiters from HRs in India are absolute Idiots with no understanding of any technology or the people concerned.
This is a Bandwagon of Idiots who do routine dumbo clerical practices with no ethics or understanding.

none of these HR guys practice what they preach-all this is good for seminars, articles etc-ground reality is totally different-language, nepotism play a big part in hiring-also most HR of mncs do nothing but implement policies dictated by their overseas bosses. They also ask lot of personal questions which HR in other cointries would dare not ask.

HR Policies
by shyamsunder vyas on Aug 27, 2010 10:26 AM

MNCs do not have the stability like Indian Companies. One year the intake is high w/o bothering as what will happen to same recruits next or when market goes down. My concern is more for the Indians who work and show utmost loyalty for such companies, having no ethics or human touch. And best (except for few) of these lot come from IITs and IIMs.

Now where in the industry the HR manager has the choice
by usnri on Aug 27, 2010 07:09 AM

Now where in the industry the HR manager has the choice to recruit. Be it IT or Manufacturing, HR is the biggest idiot , when it comes to interviewing the candidates. They are like clerks who just type the offer letters.
Dont know why they pay these clerks so much.

NEW ENTRANTS NEED TO BE EXPOSED TO DIFFERENT FUNCTIONAL AREAS
by srinivasa rao on Aug 26, 2010 08:35 PM

Even a new entrant also should garner experience in various functional areas and the over all working of the Organisation. If one is confined to a particular field, the employee's work becomes steretotyped and monotonous losing interest in the work. It is absolutely essential that the employee should be exposed to various disciplines to avoid a situation of water tight compartments where the right hand does not know what the left doing and vice-versa. As the employee climbs up the ladder, he should have basic knowledge of working of each sphere to grapple with any situation/evantuality.
