It was announced on August 15th (not sure why this date was chosen) that from next year, all schools in south Sri Lanka will start teaching Chinese as a second language to students. This shows the importance of Chinese in the future economies. Lankan students will be prepared with knowledge of Sinhala, Chinese and English.

they will come in India.....earn hell of money with giving comparatively less salary.
Good for Indians to know a language more, but time consumption for how-much extra money??
Mr.BENSON of Benson Consultants, wrote to me once: He wanted a PARTNER from INDIA,knowing HINDI.He had a Good South Indian Partner with HINDI knowledge to deal with INDIAN CUSTOMERS.As this Indian Partner expired recently,BENSON was in search of a partner. In one of his correspondences,he stated (without my asking)that he believed in JESUS & has visited & seen most of places in the world. So,then I stopped writing to him.Moral:HINDI is FOREIGN Language to Foreigners !
We thought Engish is the Universal languge! that is what every body belive! That is why people in my counrty start teaching thier 1 year old baby Engish world than thier own languges! Now I hear this story! We Indian's are fooled? by whom? our own people!
We need to differentiate between "working knowledge " of a foreign language and being able to use it like a native.probably the Germans are looking for a working knowledge , and our man never had the time to frequent the Goethe Institute/Maxmueller Bhavans?? Its his loss.
FL is one of the basic criteria in these global days....knowing a FL not only enhances your chances of getting jobs with MNCs, it also boost your confidence and gives you an edge while negotiating with Foreign clients.... Those in trade and related business should learn languages of their interest geographical locations...

Germans have a rich culture and background, and they are proud of it. There's nothing wrong if they want to continue with their own language. And its always good to learn foreign languages, u never know, it may help you. And for your info, Germans ( I mean most of them) learn and know English well, but they prefer German over their English, there's nothing wrong...

Yes. Germans are not wrong in thinking that in their bank, staff should know German. But it is utterly wrong of Maharashtrians to axpect outsiders to learn Marathi, while working in Maharashtra. Right ?
